Not exactly sushi, but those Asian cuisine places that grill in front of you are wicked fun. It's sort of a show and the food is both cheap and typically tasty! Have one that is a tad of a distance away so you have the car ride there to talk, maybe even enjoy one another's silence!

Horrible idea. When ski dates go wrong. There's a chance it might be fun and she might love it, but ski dates can be horrible. She might be bitching about the cold the whole time, unable to stand up, hating everything, and never want to see you again.

movie and dinner,
specifically go see a movie first, then get dinner later, that way you have an easy thing to talk about to break the ice, and have already been around each other for a bit so there wont be as much tension in that regard.

My 2nd tip: Listen, girls love a guy who can listen. feel free to comment and share storys but try and make it around 50/50 speaking time.

First date should be a lunch date, or something informal, like a coffe or whatever. It's good to get to know the person. And no matter what, if you're the dude, it needs to be on you. and to OP, if you're 21+-- why not have a daytime date- take her to packed sports bar on the weekend to watch the playoffs (NFL) if you're into that thing. Even if she doesn't like football the atmosphere of sportsbars during the playoffs is pretty darn fun. If you're not 21-- a house party.

Just go bowling and eat bowling alley food. And laugh at other bowlers. But don't diss them too hard you'll look like a dick. And girls really don't like dicks. Yea that definitely isn't a date bro... That is "oh lets hangout and have an excuse to get drunk, then lets fuck at the end of the night with alcohol fueling the rage". Nothing wrong with that, just not a date in my books.

Idk dinner and a movie seems pretty chill, and by movie I mean just rent something and watch it back at home. I feel like seeing a movie in a movie theater would be a huge waste for a first date, like you have almost no interaction. Only thing it does it provides you is maybe 15 minutes or so small talk afterwards to discuss the movie, huge waste imo for getting to know someone.
