Does anyone remember the ads in freeze where it showed a closeup of phil larose's face with a caption that said "You put baking soda in salt. thats the secret." there was another one with a caption that read, "In order to be a real lady-killer on the dancefloor, you have to practice every day." I still think about that shit today that was so funny to me. Also sometimes there were sheets of filter paper for joints that read "Thanks from FREEZE." That was pretty rad. You just don't see shit like that anymore.
I always thought freestyle skiing would get as far as it would, but I did not forsee alot of the commercialism and bullshit that came along with it. Skiing is and will always be about Self individuality, and freedom of expression. Freedom to do whatever your ability allows you to do and pushing yourself to increase that ability. Its about the drive. Its not about the glitz and glam, and trying to follow some trend like a generation of god damn hipsters skis. Yes i respect looking and doing whatever and howecer you want to be or do. I also understand that the fame and fortune of some pros would drive one to look and act a certain way. But you gotta remember, skiing isnt about them. Skiing is about you.

Hey David, liked your note. I think Freeze benefited from print still being the dominant medium at the start of the freeskiing movement. Now with the internet being so "now" and people judging whether something is funny or not within 15 seconds it makes it extremely difficult to do anything lasting or original. Even if Freeze were around I don't know if it would have the same impact now that it did then. But agree, it's fun to think about and always good for a laugh.
