Hello all.
So back in late november on my first day of the year I ate it. Landed on my wrist and fucked it up a bit. I iced it and it hurt for 2 or 3 weeks. It gradually got better so I didn't really think of it that much.
However now a month and a half later it still hurts a bit. When I put pressure on my flat palm like in a pushup it hurts and I can't put too much weight on it. I know I should go to the Doctor but I don't wanna have a cast on my hand for the rest of ski season.
Any advice from people who have had wrist injuries?
No advice from me, but i broke my thumb twice last year. didn't think much of it right away, got it checked out, turned out to be broken. both times i didn't think i broke it
Seriously? Is it possible to be this dumb? Seriously???? Oh, you must be one of those "leaders of tomorrow" we keep hearing about. Well, I suppose you could still do a better job than Obama...
My guess would be that you fractured your ulnar styloid. I fractured mine along with a distal radius fracture (which is very common together) and it bothered me for quite a while when I put pressure on my open palm like you described. My doctor recommended that I'd get surgery to remove the styloid (as it broke off cleanly). However, I didn't want to be in a cast for another 8 weeks so I waited a while to see if it would get better, which was okay because it can't get worse without an accident. It ended up healing like 95% on its own after 10 months or so. The thing with this injury is that it's mostly the torn tendons that come with it that bother you, not just the fracture. So if they can heal by their own (which mine did) then it'll basically as good as new.
Granted that I'm not a doctor and you only briefly described it and its only been a few weeks, don't assume this is true for you.
Yeah I had a cast and continued to ski, then re broke it in the cast without knowing. Didn't know it was possible haha. When the doctor toke the cast off my thumb looked a bit out of place and I thought I was going to have to get surgery to fix it. Ended not getting surgery, but my thumb sticks out a little more than it should.
thanks for the solid advice. Sounds like what I have. It hurts when i put hard pressure right where my thumb and wrist meet. I think I'm gonna just ask the doctor if it is serious and take it from there.
Yeah I'd definitely still go see a doctor and possibly get some x-rays. Its not like if its broken they are going to make you put a cast on it right away, you can wait till the end of the season if you really want to.
