i live in a small town and our ski hill has no real big jumps but i always find that when your just airing out somewhat big jumps its more sketchy tehn doing a trick and you always flail and get off axis, me and my freinds built a huger booter in my feild and i just wondering if anyone has any tips on keeping goodform and not killing myself +k for good help!
Just start off with trying to make the most compact and stable form in the air, I try and keep my knees tucked up and my arms by my skis, maybe do a safety grab so I know where they are. This keeps your center of gravity low and even, and it's much easier to control than spreading out in the air, which causes flailing. Just keep calm and try to make the whole thing real smooth, and hopefully there will be no sketchiness. good luck!
Stay forward as you pop and as mentioned, tuck and keep your center of gravity compact. I'm not great at doing tricks off jumps yet but I love just going as big as I can air wise and landing at the lowest possible point of the landing.
I'd bet anything you're not popping solidly. You have way more balance and stability in the air when you actually jump off the lip of the jump than if you just ski off it.
when going of the lip, squat down sort of and lean forward so your body from the waist up is perpendicular to flat ground. then when you pop off the jump (just like what the guy a couple post above me said) stay tucked and hold your body close.
i tend to be more 'together" in the air when im spinning a large jump then just straight airing it, prolly because i focus more on the trick and popping and movement then just looking into space when i go off.
The first one was bigger that year. I can't remember the number on it. IT was fucking gorgeous the way it built so slowly out of the hill and then just released you with no compression but still so much fucking height. Then you can down into the sweet spot on a nice steep long landing with barely any compression and the biggest fucking smile on your face.
