Thall vs. Ar7 vs. Pipecleaner vs. El rey

hey ive been wanting to try armada and arent sure what ski to get. I am 5'5.5 120lbs. I ski 85% park rest all mountain. I like a stiffer ski with a lot of pop. I also enjoy a quite light ski. Although i like a stiff ski i would like it to be playfull as well. Thanks ns. +k for help

Ar7 is a pretty awesome blend of solid flex (for someone your weight especially), poppiness,and playfulness (although less so for someone your weight). From how you described your self I would go for the ar7 with out a doubt.

Never skied the ar7. El Rey is Armadas "beginner ski". And I believe that pipecleaners would not be very stiff. I own a pair of thalls and they do everything I need them too. Great park ski and holds up pretty well on groomers as well.

Unless you plan on skiing a lot in the pipe, I'd rule out the pipecleaner. Other than that, It's all about how you plan to use them. The El Rey is going to be the lightest and most flexible of the lot, which in turn brings a lack of durability. If you consider yourself mostly a park skier I would choose the AR7, they are Armada's main park ski. A friend of mine has the Ar7 and loves them.

i would consider the alpha 1 other then the halo is one of the lightest armada ski! its pretty Stiff like the ar7 but it is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo light and poppy!~ i would deffintely recommend you to take a look at the aplha 1!!!!!!!!!!!

el rey is not a "beginner ski." its there price point park ski. the build is not the same as more expensive models, but it skis well and is the softest park ski armada makes this year.

t hall is stiff underfoot and gets a bit softer in the very tip and tail.

ar7 is stiff all the way around.

i would say given your weight the t hall or el rey would be most friendly.

actually according to Armada's website the El Ray is the most stiff of all their park skis this year, along with the triumph (which i guess isnt really even a park ski). And i do know that in years past they have put in the El Ray's description that it was "for someone just starting off in the park" or something along those lines but it doesnt really matter. just clarifying

Right. I was never implying that the el rey was a bad ski. I think all of Armadas products are high quality. I was just basing my opinion of the el rey on what Armada describes it as.

I would go Thall. Its softish for larger people, but you are a fair amount smaller than I and I found it to be super playful at 6'0" and 165 pounds. The AR7 is a bit stiffer and at your size it may feel cumbersome to ski with.

I ski the AR7 and love it, that being said im 6'2 220. I would say THall or Halo (depending on if you want rocker or not) both are good solid park skis that'll do fine around the mountain and are a bit softer skis so you can flex em without them being noodles for you.

As for the El Rey beginner discussion I think the "just getting into the park" comment in there description is less about the ability level but more a comment about if youre deciding you want to get a ski for the park but dont wanna go out and drop $600 on the THalls, AR7s, etc. just to find out you hate skiing park, then that would be the ski in their line that would suit you. Maybe I'm wrong though, as I am not an Armada rep.

Might also wanna consider the ARV too, they list it as an all mtn ski but both Henrik Harlaut and Phil Casabon have been using it in the park. I own this ski too and its super fun in the park and great around the mtn. Much softer than the AR7 imo

I have the El Rey and completely love it. it holds up to the Ar7 IMO and for the price you cant beat it. I have no durability issues with it yet and it skis softer than they advertise. Its is also a good ripper outside the park. HIt me up with anymore questions i have ridden a lot of armada line this year.
