I'd hazard a guess that he cares because he associates displays of femininity (or really, anything other than rather explicit masculinity) in males with homosexuality, and as he's previously demonstrated, he's homophobic. This, such displays make him uncomfortable; this discomfort is subsequently expressed as vitriol.
