punk_rider, your statement embodies the most uninformed opinion of Arafat. Did you know that he has/had a standing invitation from the Pope to sit front row at the Papal Christmas Mass? This was an invitation he accepted gratiously many times.

Yes, he believes Palestine deserves its own state, but so does Israel. To say that he is burning in hell vilifies a man that does not necessarily deserve it.

You think Arial Sharron, George W Bush, and other world leaders are ever going to have a standing (lifelong) invitation to the Papal Christmas mass, I highly doubt we will ever see that day.

well, actually we had a great deal to do with the Palestinian/Israelie conflict. the USA was involved in the creation of an Israelie state, however, no one really considered what taking the land from the Palestinians would do (if you look at old maps, Israel was Palestine after all).

Something to keep in mind, extremists carry out terroristic attacks in his name, but that does not mean that he had anything to do with them (realize I'm playing devil's advocate a little here).

And in all honesty, I think the Bush administration should have pushed for Sharron to resign, or be removed of power since everytime there was a ceasefire, Sharron insited more violence.

to manus: yep! but the Pope is just the perfect man! i mean, he would invite kim jong il if he tought there's a chance to help peace by doing it.
no one can argument against that:
- arafat was a 'first level' terrorist between 70's and 80-90's: he personnaly asked for meuders of israelis.
- then, he became a second level terrorist by doing nothing against them.
- then, arafat is the anti peace problem : arafat is a terrorist leader who never prepared his people to do something else than hating and killing jews. he NEVER prepared peace and broke the peace process of helsinki.

i think right now, all the innocent people who died because of him look from heaven arafat suffering and burning in hell forever
