Hey guys. So yesterday at the hill they put in a new rainbow rail(that blows) and I didn't have the right amount of speed. I launched the bitch and smacked my head pretty hard on the ground. I got a minor concussion. Now I'm not too sure whether I need to replace my helmet. I have a Poc Receptor Bug. There are no cracks/dents in the shell or the actual hard padding. Not too sure whether I should get a new one or not?
The Golden Rule of helmet safety- if you take a fall where you were glad you had your helmet on, you need to get a new one. What keeps you safe is not the hard outer shell- it is the EPS foam on the inside. This foam absorbs an impact so your skull doesn't. Once it compresses, it has done its job and you need to get a new one if you want to keep your head safe for the next fall.
