New TV?

I don't know much about televisions, but I think you should definitely include his price range. Could be a big determining factor.

LEDs are generally brighter than LCDs. I'd go with an LED.

led tv will last longer and you can get them with out the background lighting effects. higher refresh framerate will be better for gaming and fastpaced movies or sports. and u should look in to the hookups asfaras hdmi ports audio in and outs.... i would suggest looking for a wifi capiable tv because it makes all the diffrence.

i bought a 47inch lcd lg tv off of craigslist for 400 bucks and a mac mini for 300 the next day. i like it that way because not only can i watch tv but i can play netflix stream movies/porn and play music. all for the price of a new tv. i would say dont worry about the fancy new shit go for a older cheaper modle just make sure it has a good framerate and you like the colors. sometv's have anti glare which i like

Don't do this. Please. The TV's at stores are set on insane settings that make them look way better on their short clips they show, than they really are. I know a fair amounnt about tv's.

First, go to CNET.com and do some research.

LED's do not give you a wide viewing area. Plasmas will give you the widest. IMO, I would never buy LED, but thats just me. LCD's are decent but Plasmas are the best and worth the money.

You might have heard about Plasmas and "Burn in", but that rarely occurs now. Technology has improved and unless you leave a TV on pause for a week you'll be fine.

Higher refresh rates above 100 are a marketing ploy. those 120hz refresh rates don't really do anything under 60". Same as 720/1080p (more debatable though).


Again, PLEASE visit CNET.com. They break down a shit ton of TV's into a lot of detail. (rooms with lots of light vs. low light, etc)

LED TVs are just a revamped LCD TV. The LCD TVs (with out using LED lighting) are becoming more obsolete because the LED lights are better than the old LCD lighting. So when you are buying an LED tv, you are just buying LCD that uses LED lights instead of lighting that is equivalent to fluorescent bulbs.

Samsung and Westinghouse just released 110 inch 4k TV's, with almost a 180 degree viewing angle. That would be perfect for you.

They only cost $300 000 though.

LED's are better. hands down.

i'd go with a samsung LED. super sick tv's. i have a 32 inch Samsung 720p LED. I got that for 320.

Plasma still have the best color reproduction. The Pioneer KUROs from several years ago are still some of the best TVs available today.

This man speaks the truth. I finally upgraded my old 32" Sony CRT to a 55" Panasonic plasma. The experience is surreal. NO burn in, incredible viewing angles, and amazing black levels. LED's are overrated IMO, i have an Asus LED monitor and it works well, but the screen uniformity and viewing angles just aren't the same compared to plasma.

Also, most of what people call "LED" TVs are really LED backlit LCD TVs. LED TVs are what stadiums have where each LED cluster is a pixel.

I just purchased a new Samsung UN55ES6100fxga and it's fucking sick. It's a 55 inch LED smart tv. From what i saw in doing my shopping, Samsung TVs have the best picture for the money. The picture looks insane and I'm coming from a nice plasma...not a tube tv.
