Cheap car rental options in Denver... (read the specifics)

Every year I fly into Denver and drive to Moab Utah for a week of mountain biking. I am coming to you NS to see if there are any cheaper options than a week long car rental. Here is what I have already looked into:
Fly into Salt Lake and drive
Fly direct to Moab
Fly to Vegas and drive
Fly to Grand Junction and drive
Drive to Grand Junction with a one way car and rent a jeep there
All being more expensive than the $620 week long car rental or not possible

Must be able to hold a bike rack or two large mountain bikes. Rental car companies really get pissed if you put a rack on their car (we tried that last year). We usually have to rent a pickup or an SUV. So please dont suggest an economy car with a rack as it doesnt work I promise.

Dude. Get a small Uhaul. You can get em for like... $30 + $0.69/mile. You can toss the bikes in the storage bay.

Not a bad idea but with the higher gas consumption and the miles while in Moab, it will be the same price range. My idea was get a one way rental and then a uhaul then another one way rental car back but I can't do a one way to grand junction or Moab.

I've worked for Enterprise Rent A Car before. One way rentals are hella expensive. If you go the car route, go roundtrip. You'll save some $$$. As long as there is no visible damage to the car/hitch, you can just add a bike rack to the back of the car/truck/suv. If there is a quarter size dent,scratch,ding, then they will file a claim in your insurance and you'll have to pay your deductible.

Yeah I know the one way is super expensive. Plus there is no one way drop off anywhere near moab that they even allow.
Adding the rack to a car in denver is tough because they (at least last year) only had cars with flimsy spoilers that would crack under the weight of the bikes.
What I think I may do is get an economy car to moab, ship the bikes to moab directly, pick up a rental Jeep or uhaul there which will save me about $150 or so. Thats my best idea.
