I think its fake because of how faded his right foot is compared to how clear the shark is. The water is so murky you can barely see his foot that is very close and somehow you can clearly see the shark that is farther away than his foot.

I'm going with fake.

Where is his camera mounted even? I surf central NJ, I've never seen a shark. Although they've been spotted plenty of times. Last summer I saw something get eaten by something else, but I think both fish were smaller/not sharks.

It's not like that though, just because we don't see it doesn't mean that it was any more dangerous. Shark attacks are actually extremely rare, and sharks can just as easily get scared by humans.

I wouldn't even be surprised. Last year the water was really warm, the winter was warm, the whole year was pretty much warm. And I believe sharks like warm water.
