Hey I am really looking into getting a pair of automatics for my first powder ski. Yes I search barred and only a couple old threads come up. I was curious if any if you guys have bad experiences with these. I'm from California and moving to mammoth for 2 years so a powder ski is necessary but there are too many choices.
I used em for a few days in utah 2 weeks ago. Im 6'5, 220 and rode the 193. I think they were mounted at recommended, which seemed fairly far back (but that might have just been my big foot). I really liked them. Super maneuverable if you wanted them to be, and held up at speed.
I just bought a pair. Chose them over my other options which were the atomic atlas, nordica helldorado, or the on3p billy goats.
Yeah the recommended line is way far back (-10.5 from true centre). Sage skis them at +3 and Dana at +2. Mine are at +2.5 which is decent for everything. Go +4 if you ski super jibby or +1 if you ski wide open pow flat-out.
I've got my 186s at +2 and my 193s at +1. I haven't ridden them at other positions but they feel so good where they are at, I don't feel the need to change.
I skied them for a day... They were softer than I expected and WAY heavier than I thought they would be. I personally wouldn't want to give up the light poppiness of my bent chets for a little more groomed stability
