It definitely wouldn't work well for follow cams as a wide angle/fisheye, but I've used my 28mm prime lens to film some stuff in skiing, you just have to be a little farther away from the skier and focus more on your composition/keeping the skier in frame. I personally like to film at the 24-28 range on a crop sensor since it isn't as wide as a fisheye and I have more selection on what is in the shot and what I leave out, but you would probably like a fisheye/wide angle better.

If you have a T2i/other canon crop sensor, the FD lenses don't work well on them, I think there's something about them that makes them work fine on any other mounts (m4/3, nikon) but not canon.
