First set of college grades

So I just got my grades back from my first semester of college. I got a 2.3 and I'm fucking pissed, but it really is my fault so its all at myself. Am I fucked or is it possible to recover from this? Has anyone else been in a similar situation or can anyone relate? I feel awful and am sort of depressed about this whole situation. Also this isn't an alias.

I went from an A+ to a B in one of my classes. my calculator died 5 mins into the final. prof did jack shit to help. I aced all of the derivations and conceptual stuff but bombed any of the questions that required computations. Super pissed.

check your meter. Go to class. If you go to class and just write down shit you will be fine. Study the day before the test and you will get b's and c's and graduate, shoot for the stars.

Out of 3 sections of 25-30 students I only gave 6 As this semester. Pure laziness. Also a lot of Ds and Fs. If you're not going to put the effort in, just drop.

2.3 isn't bad for a fresh GPA. You have probably another 80 or so units to bring it up (for semester) or 105 or so for quarter.

Bullshit, everyone is going to be taking core classes when they're a freshmen. Some people will venture into major specific classes, but for the most part everyone is stuck in the same core classes. A 3.0 in bullshit class 221 is weak. If you're getting shit grades in easy classes, what happens when you need to build on that knowledge the next quarter? Shittier grades.

OP, a 2.3 isn't the end of the road, but change is in order. All I can say is go to class and take good notes. Do all of your work, and don't get distracted by your roommates. What threw your grades off? Tests, Homework? Make that a priority for the next quarter.

Im kind of pissed because im trying so hard to keep up good grades. This is cuz I was talking to my cousin who just got a really cool and high paying business job and I asked him how many of the places he applied to asked for his transcript. He said 2 out of 20 and the one he got didnt even ask.

The fuck school do you go to? 8 hours total each week? Id say Sunday-Thursday I spend 4 hours a day studying if I want to kill it. That is once the semester really gets going. 4*5=20 hours a week studying.

I got a 2.7 or so forgot to go to a lab in my geology class and would have had an A if I went ended with a 86.8 so a B a B- in my film class super boring, and a C+ in math. My grades were superb until I started smoking instead of studying. Then I got into the mindset everything is cool Ill get that A on my calculus test NOPE. Not even close to an A.

I don't understand how people study that much. I put in maybe 8 hours a week of studying outside class and do pretty good in school... Like what else is there to do besides reading the textbook and doing problems, like what can take 20+ hours of work.

I did very bad this semester but I also had mono and missed about a month of class. So I think I'm going to have my f's Withdrawn and I'm going to keep a B&C. It really does make me upset though because I had to A's after midterms And I actually was doing pretty well.

Yeah I got a 1.6 first semester (failed math) and a 2.2 in the spring semester. Now I usually end up between 3 and 3.5 and I know I could do better. Don't let 1 semester get you down OP. get after it

2 semesters I had a cumulative GPA of 2.1, I know have a cumulative GPA of 3.0. I realized i was in a hole an worked really hard to get out as fast as possible, but all you really need to do now is, first make sure you do better next semester and then steadily build your GPA until you graduate. Obviously, some semesters will be worse than others, but if you start getting the the 3.0's your cumulative GPA will average out higher. Lots of ppl get low grades first semester/ year.

i had a 3.87 my first semmy. but youll be fine its only one semester if you get a 3.5 even for the next 3 your gpa will be like 3.2 which is fine.

3.4 finance major checking in. OP there is no excuse for your shitty grades. Go to class, don't miss any, study, and take notes. Its pretty simple. Teachers give you the one up if you show up to almost every class and participate once in a while. If your excuse is because your hanging ou with friendsor whatever, then suck it up and go to the library.

3.9 first semester. There really is no excuse for getting bad grades in your core classes. As long as you study an hour out of class for every credit you take, you should get all As and Bs, and let's be honest, 16 hours of studying a week is not that hard.

Finished first semester with 3.2, had a 3.6 going into exams and failed one and got a D in the class. Oops. Second semester, 2.6ish? Fucked around too much. Third semester, 3.6. Just put the work in.

My brother is doing the premed route at William and Mary, taking 3 labs, and missed three weeks of school. Know what he got? 3.7. Put work in you fool.

one of my grades dropped from an a to an a- because i was in detox and missed a quiz that was 5% of our grade. the other a- i got was dropped from an a to an a- because of a lack of participation.

whatever, im cool with a 3.85
