Friend of mine is sponsored by them... He's broken 6 pairs of their skis over the past 2 seasons

Even if this is true I don't think one can draw any conclusions. Many companies give their riders skis with experimental materials, shapes and construction, and many pros ride and abuse skis much more in a single season than the average skier.
