You need to chill out on your bashing and do some real research. RAMP is not run by musicians, nor does anyone from DMB have anything to do with it. Guster, Barenaked Ladies, on the other hand, yes. It's a collaborative project between riders, artists, and musicians...which I think is fucking fantastic. I highly doubt that they are even close to completely funded by musicians, I'm sure they receive donations from those bands, and other people involved...but I wouldn't say that its anything to brag about.
Give them some time and I guarantee they'll have their production process on lock. You have to give brand new companies years to produce top quality products, and they have only just begun producing their own skis in house in the past year. Board production begins this spring. The skis that you rode were made in Taiwan by little 16 year old girls who have never skied in their life, and probably haven't seen snow...what do you expect for quality?
On the contrary, I ride their Tumbleweed snowboard and it's the most amazing board I've ever ridden. The thing tears up the entire mountain...and that was made in Taiwan. Stoked to ride a hand made board next season, bamboo core with Kevlar in the base...hell yeah.
Ramp does not blow, one bit. Mike Kilchenstein, the owner, worked at Rossi for over 20 years before starting the company...He knows his shit, and from what I've heard about their new skis, especially the Frenzy...they fucking rip.
Overall. Great people, great company, great mission, and great products. Die-hard enthusiasts now make these skis, definitely worth a look.
