He ripped the edges off and says he thinks companies should make edgeless skis. Has anyone else done this? I think it is kind of dumb for one but he does better on rails now. Thoughts?

Its smart if you wana hit shit like corregated pipe, rusty rails or logs on a pair of beater skis. but its really stupid if you want decent park skis.

Line has produced some skis without any edges and some with no edges underfoot. It makes sense as a specialty ski if you are trying to slide some really difficult ledge or aluminum rail. But as an actual ski for riding around the mountain or even just skiing park it doesn't make sense. Plus the lack of edges makes it a lot more difficult to grip and lock in to rails.

line made a ski with no edge underfoot and I believe the team riders still use them when they slide things like chains. I heard that the are way too soft due to the fact that there is no underfoot edge, it lets the fold in half basically.

Edges are there for protection too. Without them, edge chipping could become more of a problem.

First edge means the metal strip. Second edge means the side of the ski. Everybody understands, anyway.

hahahaha you're friends an idiot unless all he does is lap a park that always is good conditions.
I have somewhat dull edges, where they havnt already ripped out, and god it sucks so bad. I wish I had $ to buy new skis but Im just gonna have to deal with it till next season.

It is really hard to stop on ice without edge.
I have noticed that sometimes it has seemed easier for me to grip some rails without edge.

yeah, slide a few ledge hits and you're through the base into the sidewall without edges. that's how my urban skis are right now but they refuse to break, fucking rossignol scratches are bombproof.

It makes no sense. Seriously retarded idea. IF you don't wnat edges ROUND the fuck out of your edges. If you sit there and straight round them you aren't going to catch on shit.
Edged protect your skis. The metal edge keeps your edge from getting all chopped up and fucked up.
If you don't want an edge round it. You get the protection without the grip.
Making edgeless skis/boards is stupid.
