Moment Bibby Pro's VS 4FRNT YLE's

Hey guys, so I'm moving out to Whistler pretty soon and need to get some pow skis. I've done a ton of research so far and these two really stand out to me. I have a proform for 4frnt and I get a slight discount on moment so they are both good on my wallet. Inb4 ON3P, I can't afford it, I have too many other expenses (IE rent, food).

My Specs:
- I'm 18, 5'10, 150, expert skier
- I like a mid/long radius turn, I like a mid to stiff ski, rocker/camber/rocker
- I ski a mix of wide open bowls and tight trees, love bouncing off pillows
- I want a ski that can surf in pow but still lay tracks on groomers
- Realistically I won't spend a lot of time skiing switch, some spins, I like to butter
- These will be my only ski other than my Rossi Scratches for park and groomers
- I will be mounting them with Marker Barons so I can tour, lighter is better

Whistler is hardly ever total blower, it's often heavy, tracked snow; you really need a versatile ski that won't get bounced around in heavier snow.

On paper, they are both 'similar' skis, both just under 120mm, both have a mid 20's turn, both have r/c/r. Bibby's are stiffer and lighter. I've heard YLE's are a mid flex, definitely heavier than the bibby. Bibby's are more charge but can still jib, YLE's can jib but I'm not sure how much they can charge. Bibby's are a traditional twin with a -5 mount, YLE's are symmetrical with a -2 or -2.5 mount.

Right now I'm leaning towards the Bibby but there really isn't that much info out there on YLE's. I like the price point of the YLE because I still have a lot of other gear to buy. If anyone has skied em I'd love your input.

very different skis, yle are really buttery and bibby pros are stiffer. you sound like the bibby would be best.

Since you are moving to whistler, I would absolutely recommend the Bibs. I skied the Wiley 187 and was really unimpressed. Much too soft for freeride. They also seemed small for a 187. The bibs will jib and charge. Spend the extra money and go with moment.

lets hang out in whis when you get there, we can shoot large format shit.

The price of 4FRNT's ishard to pass up but the Bibby really is an outstanding ski, wish I could have picked up a pair this season.

honestly if you're going to be in whistler you may want something fatter, check out the night trains they would be the best option IMO

I have the YLE's and I definitely wouldn't describe them as soft or too "jibby". They still charge through crud and chopped up pow and slay groomers. I haven't ridden the Bibby, but you can get a much better deal on the YLE's so I would choose those.

i am 5'6 130 and i hated my bibbys. felt like they were just a lifeless ski. def wouldnt call them jibby. that was the first year they were out though so maybe they have improved them since then.
one of my best friends rides the yles and he loves them. he skis and slays everything on them.
and you can definitely charge and yle...see below

@GYPSYSLAYER: What are your specs?

@Graeme: Hell yeah dude! And yeah, that's basically my dilemma.

@dadunda: What are your specs and what size do you ride?

@Colly: Damn that's big, for whistler, where a lot of your days are bouncing around in the trees while they blast up in the alpine, that size would probably be overkill. Barons are significantly lighter than guardians, almost feel like a normal alpine binding.

@Brettski: Yes and no, you can see him getting a little squirely, and compared to those shots of him on ren's! I'd give it to him more than the skis.


So yeah, unless anyone can give me a really good review of YLE's and how they perform in chop and at speed, I'm probably going to go for bibby's, just seems like it fits my needs better.

I am a small guy, (5'5) and ride the 177 YLEs and they are definitely stable enough to bust through crud for me, never had a problem with them being squirrely. I am gonna be taking them up to Whis later this year.

Just bought the bibby's, any recommendations for where to mount em? Probably going to go on the line (-5 from centre).
