He was the one that did the grenades song right? I think it was 09-10 season everytime I got in the car somewhere or turned on my car or anything with a radio that song would be on. I used to throw on a hip hop station before the mountain and for some reason that song fit?
Bruno Mars as far as a contemporary pop artists is actually pretty good. Not his music necessarily, but he does a lot of writing for a lot of other pop musicians. He is someone that can actually write a song from beginning to end which most people, sadly enough, cant do today.
I will be forever confused by the hate that "pop music" receives. Who exactly is forcing you to like one pop song over another? Is there some guy in the back of your car with a gun forcing you to listen to it?
I'm impressed with how people can make songs so damn catchy, yeah. And the politics is a factor, sure, but people still like the music. If they told people to like reggae, it still wouldn't make the top charts.
It's actually all psychological. Certain rythms and harmonies (4-on-the-floor bass with a constant backbeat, etc) please our brains and thats what makes them ''catchy''. It's all science, you're hearing music manipulated to sell.
Oh I know. But being able to replicate that and have the song sound completely new takes skill. The way he can sample old songs, beats, patterns, etc is impressive, even though I hate it when pop songs sample great older songs and ruin them.
Pop these days is garbage few to you through the radio. They tell you who to like, and you love the new song. Then the next song comes out and you forget about the other one.
There's no longevity to it. That's why I can't take it seriously as a genre. Do people really like it because it's an amazing song? Or do they just like it because it's the mildly catchy tune the radio's been playing 3 times an hour for the last week.
I'm not saying that times and tastes don't change, I just think if something is really good music, it will still have some sort of value later on.
We pick up the new song then cast it aside for the next song, never really caring about either, or really being capture by them. I feel like that reflects the way our society is these days. We love something only until the next thing comes out and then we cast aside the other one and forget it ever existed.
Me. Why the hell would I want to switch lives with him? Oh because he's got money so what? I'm not saying I wouldn't like to have money, but that isn't what you're asking. Switch lives with him? Fuck no. Dumb question.
at what point did i say i was a bruno mars fan? i dont like pop music thus i dont like his music. i was asking NS mod/member what he considered to be good music.
