Hey all, newbie here. Been lurking for a while but this is my first post.
To cut a long story short, I recently moved house and somehow my Armada El Rey's were snapped in the process. The removal company are saying it's not their fault but either way its going to be 6+ weeks before I can get the skis replaced on insurance. I can't afford to buy new skis having just spent $5k on moving house, I have about $150 to my name :(
I go to Vail in 4 weeks and all I'm left with is my Afterbangs. Has anyone skiied these outside the park? I plan on splitting my time 50/50 between park and piste. Aside from from the A-bangs being hella slow, has anyone had any issues with skiing them on piste? I don't really want to spend money on rentals but obviously I want to have a good time so if the Afterbangs suck i'd rather try and figure something out now and not waste a day when i'm out there.
Thoughts?

... Yea no don't do it. The bangs are ok in the park but they suck on trail or even off trail, they don't hold an edge at all. Your better off demoing in my personal opinion

Thanks Gumby. Reckon I might be able to stretch to the €99 for the CorUept Oneirics and put my Marker bindings on them. Probably a better option than the A-Bangs?

A'bangs are park/jib specific ski so it's frontside all mountain abilities won't be fantastic. It's also worth considering that any ski which has been subjected to use on rails will have a decreased 'on piste' carving ability. As mentioned above demoing (this is free) would be a good option, this will make for an overall more enjoyableb day. Whilst also maybe giving you a better idea of what ski you'll want to buy with the insurance money.

They're parabolic cambered skis, sharpen the edges and you'll be able to carve down the mountain just fine.

Thanks folks. I used them as my park skis for about a week at the end of last season. I really like them as a park ski, super buttery. I used them on rails but the bases and edges don't have too much damaged, they're still in decent condition, 8/10. I think I'm going to get them tuned and then see what they feel like on the mountain when I'm out there. If they suck, I'll demo or rent.

What this guy said. If you can't ski outside the park an abang dull edges underfoot and all, you need to spend some time outside the park. Are there better options? Of course, but it's not like the explode as soon as you get on some real runs.
