T2i and 7d tempratures what is too cold?

I have a t2i, my friend has a 7d that he lets me use on occasion. I like to take time lapses usually an hour or so in length. Sometimes longer. I was wondering what temperature is to cold to shoot at. I Have shot my t2i at -10* F everything worked fine, but is that damaging to the camera? I would think the 7d would be safer to use at colder temps or am I wrong?

the 7d is completely weather sealed and has a magnesium alloy body, so I imagine it will do better in the cold, but the real concern is ice forming on the camera. In that situation, again the 7d would be fine but the t2i would not be very stoked

my t2i has stopped working when it got real cold. this was sub 0 °F weather for 4 hours, but when it warmed up a bit it was working fine. not sure if it was battery issues or what.

Yeah the 7d is very durable. Definitely more concerned about my t2i being exposed to harsh elements. I have shot in very heavy snow and cold temps which probably isn't the best for it but it still runs just as good as new. I just need to be careful taking the camera into the warmth of a house or care cause I have notice condensation freeze to the lens and had condensation behind the lcd. From then on I just keep the camera in its case in my back pack for 30 minutes no moisture issues.

The only thing I can think of is the internal heat getting cold enough that either the sub zero temperatures of the battery reduce the power output so that the camera won't power, or the liquid inside the battery itself freezing, but that's ridiculously cold.

after i warmed up the camera, battery especially (took it out and held it against my belly, the official way of reheating batteries) it worked and had more than half the battery power left. I'm guessing the first is more likely

As long as the battery didn't break when it froze, it would still have the same power AFAIK, but there's almost no way you would manage that.
