Ski areas catering more towards intermediates and beginners?

I'm writing a thesis and paper for school about a social issue, and decided to pursue a topic in the fact that ski areas are moving away from experts like newschoolers and more towards beginning skiers. I have to research it and write a thesis statement by friday. Not really any research online, so what are your guys thoughts on this?

my home mountain (bristol mountain NY) doesnt cater to expert skiiers the least bit. they have a good park compared to the other local places, but all the trails are like 100 yards wide (not kidding). they have no glade runs or any tight or windy trails. skiing at bristol is like skiing on a football field

This happens a lot more on the west coast because of the terrain difference. Most mountains on the east coast could be considered hills and lack that extreme terrain so there is no way they can cater towards the freeskier.

Beaver creek is extremely family friendly. Park wise it's not that good but stone creek and grouse mountain are actually really good on pow days. (All the gapers on the groomers)

But yes they have expanded terrain and made Rose Bowl chair high speed for faster access to stone creek.

Only the bunny hill is open for night skiing at my local hill. Not a big park either. We do however have a massive jump into an air bag.

Ski areas make the most money off of gapers. That's just how it is. You are going to target the population that brings you the highest income. Simple marketing

what i've learned from this thread... be thankful for the gaper families at your resort beacuse they give the resort money so the resort can stay afloat and you can ski

Big terrain parks, believe it or not, draw just as much in tourist dollars as lessons and nice hotel rooms.

More gapers ski 5 feet up the walls of my home mountains superpipe in an hour than a weeks worth of park rats who can air out of the pipe. Don't even try to take a lap through our rail parks, they're family runs so mommy and daddy can watch little jimmy sidejump off every lip for every rail. And the most serious carvers prefer the landings of our big jump line because they're the steepest, best groomed slopes on the hill.

I can hate all I want, but the people who ruin terrain parks are the ones who are paying for them...

YES. THIS. Welch Village MN is the biggest family friendly resort in the world. Worst park, "best steeps" and family attraction. It blows and we haven't had jumps/a decent jump in 4 years
