Replying to something political everybody will probably agree on

This election and campaign made me sick (not just federal, but in my own state). The amount of mudslinging and negative advertising was unbearable. The candidates were too busy pointing out each others shortcomings they didn't bother to take the time to tell me their stance on the issues.
Has america really come to this? Have we as a people lost the ability to speak our point of view in a dignified manner and let the other person do the same? There was so much hatred involved in this election, it really makes me sad.
