This election and campaign made me sick (not just federal, but in my own state). The amount of mudslinging and negative advertising was unbearable. The candidates were too busy pointing out each others shortcomings they didn't bother to take the time to tell me their stance on the issues.
Has america really come to this? Have we as a people lost the ability to speak our point of view in a dignified manner and let the other person do the same? There was so much hatred involved in this election, it really makes me sad.

Seriously, I doubt this is the worst election there's ever been as far as negative advertising and mudslinging goes. But it is a bad state when campaigns feel they need to revert to those tactics in order to generate votes in thier favor.

Maybe not the worst mudslinging and negative ads, but this is the information age, so everything thats put out there, 80% of people see it. Information is far more available.

Can you believe,that black people were told in some states that if someone in their families had a criminal record they couldn't vote,or that you can get a fine if you try to go vote and you have an unpaid parking ticket!
Other people had also been called,that they didn't have to go and vote,they could do it right now,on the phone! LIES LIES LIES!

I agree with you guys. I feel a little disenfranchised by the hole situation. It seems like no candidate really cared about the issues at all, rather they were just saying it to get your vote (I know that is how a campaign works but is that the way it should be?). I feel like the culture in America today is so geared towards one-upmanship that it has grown into a mosnter that no one can control. Makes you wonder why no great men run for president.

In VT, our auditor didn't actually go to Dartmouth for her Masters as it said on her resume, so the opposing candidate had a commercial that said 'Hi, my names ... (dont remember) And I want to be you're new auditor. I wont lie to you and I really did go to college'.

Quite simply i agree last night sitting around watching the election stuff it was quite comforting to all of us that we wouldn't have to hear all the negative campaigning anymore.
