What do your parents think of your skiing?

Park skiing is inherently dangerous. No parent likes to hear of their child hucking himself 50 feet through the air or slamming into pieces of metal, let alone on purpose!

Not just park skiing, there are great risk to ALL kinds of skiing. We read stories on the forums every day. So I am curious what your parents think? Do they support you? Are they too worried to hear a lick of your day at the mtn? Maybe they do it with you!

For me, my mom does not want to hear it. I have no skiers in my family besides myself, and she treats it like the contact sports I play. She will not attend a game or a comp but loves to hear that I am happy and safe doing it

Fully supportive. They just don't wanna hear about and get pissed if it comes up in conversation haha

My dad skis but definitely worries, my dad got my mom into skiing but she rarely goes out, and she definitely worries haha. But they still support it as long as I'm having fun

my mom is fine when it comes to regular park skiing, but when it comes to urban, its a whole different story

My parents dont really care too much. My mom gets a little sketched out when she see some of the bigger more no fall zone lines I ski. Im awful at park so they arent too concerned there haha. More the whole tumbling off a cliff mid line thing.

My whole family skis so they are supportive and my dad likes to watch ski movies with me. They defiantly don't get frightened or anything.

I showed my Dad some Stept edits and he was just be like, "Now Matt, do these guys ever get hurt?" or "Are any of them First Responders?"

My parents hate it. Every time I get in/leave the car my dads like "Don't do any daredevil stunts!" and my friends just laugh.

My family had me skiing when I could walk. Their is pictures of my mom dragging me around the mountain with a pole. They take me on trips and stuff, overall good.

Aha my parents really don't have a single clue what it is that I'm doing. When I actually showed my mom a video of some of my riding she was almost shocked. They're not the biggest fans of it but they've become way more supportive of it over the past few years I've been skiing, and I think that's because I was more or less a nerdy no-life before skiing.

I tell my parents I'm going to go visit my grandparents, then volunteer at the soup kitchen, then study. They love me so much.

Parents fully support me, help me out when buying new gear, and my mom buys me ski movies sometimes just so she can watch them too

Both my parents don't really like it and consider urban to be "vandalism." My dad is cool if he doesn't hear about it and my mom throws a fit if she hears I tried anything. They help me out with gear though so its all good.

my mom just tells me to be careful.. but she really has no clue what I do.. but both my parents are cool about it... my friend on the other hand has me delete any footage of him doing backflips because he doesn't want his dad to find out haha

they have never complained about it being dangerous, i think my mom thinks its a waste of time and is hoping i grow out of it so i can focus on 'real life'

both of my parents are super supportive and we all watch ski movies together. When it comes to urban my mom would prefer if I didn't do it but she is still cool with driving me to the spots.

obviously my mom thinks it's really dangerous, but i'll show her videos/movies and she likes them, she can appreciate them. She likes hearing from me about it. So she's supportive, very much so, she just knows the risks (she doesn't like hearing about urban)

my dad's just like "ok, cool" and he's totally fine with it

Dad likes it and mom supports but is scared. She got me a wfr course, helmets, any going to get me a avalanche course so I can reduced risk for me and my friends.

My parents only worried about dropping cliffs and not in the slightest about park, but when it got to the point where I showed them pictures of me riding a full sized kicker line they kinda changed their attitude. I don't think they'd understood until that point quite how big the stuff I'd been hitting was.

ha both parents 100% supportive. THey both ski and have since they were kids so they're all for it. my dad used to come out and film me when i was younger.

my parents love it when i take videos of the tricks i'm learning. they're totally fine with me going out and potentially killing myself, as long as i wear a helmet

on the rare occasion i'm skiing with my dad and we go through the park I only hit little features cause I know he'll be worried if I hit anything bigger.
with my mom it doesn't matter. she never wears a helmet when she skis and doesn't really care how big I go. just asks why i wear such big clothes

my parents are supportive, they got me into it when I was really young. they also encouraged the switch from racing team to a freeride team when I was younger and moved to vermont. they drove me to and often paid for small entry fees into slopestyle and rail comps when I was younger. hell my dad even let me use his skis the other day to go jib some rails (all my gear is out west) haha. here's a shot of my dad getting some pow 2 weeks ago after a skinning excursion at whistler;

My mom worries but supports is and my dad thinks it's really cool and is always asking about it like what tricks I can do and what their names are, how the park was that day, etc.

My parents don't worry too much, and my dad took an avi course with me so he's ok with BC and stuff, and I suck at park so that's not a problem. Mostly I think they're glad I'm outside so pretty much supportive, but they don't like cliffs too much.

That is awesome. I'm 19 and ski with my dad 80% of the time. When I was in high school he would ski the park with me and hit jumps, slide boxes and corrugated pipes. We've gone on several trips too. I'm lucky.

100% supportive of park skiing, inversions, our filming, urban, really everything skiing. They know how much it means to me and my bro and even if they didn't support an aspect of skiing we'd never know

My mom is cool with inbounds and slackcountry but not backcountry cause my dad died skiing in an avalanche when i was 5. Even though ive taken avi courses and have a top of the line beacon and a knowledgeable friend that i ski with she still wont let me. She is a very accomplished skier so she understands what im trying to accomplish with my skiing and takes me to the resort all the time.

my parents support my skiing.

just last night I mentioned jumping off a parking garage at the hospital my mom works at and dropping a story into a giant snowbank. my moms only thoughts were "dont get arrested for trespassing"
