Best Pow/Big Mountain Ski

Hello everyone.

I am looking for a ski that is super floaty, yet can turn "fast" in the trees and have enough stability to charge down big powder mountains at higher speeds. I still have yet to find one that really works...

I've heard that the "ON3P Cease and Desist" is a good one. I've also been looking at an "Atomic Bent Chetler" and a "K2 Hellbent". Others finally include "Armada JJ/Magic J" and the "Atomic Automatic".

I'd like to lean more to something that has more than a 120mm waist, if this is possible, and with a twin tip(Although I am not much of a trick skier, sometimes I like having the luxury)

Gear Talk, also, there is no definitive "best ski", it all depends what you're doing on the mountain, and your style.

For skiing fast, steep and deep, I ride ON3P Wrenegades mounted with STH16. They are absolute tanks, really powerful skis. They are definitely the fastest +100 underfoot skis I've been on, and the stiff flex makes the feel stable at any speed. I haven't actually ridden them in the tress yet, but @191 despite the size of the skis they seem fairly agile. When I have the time I'm going to try write up a good length review, but at the moment, I haven't got one to show.

Also you might find this thread will do better in Gear Talk, see if you can get it moved.

If you are looking for a ski to charge on, I would stray away from the hellbents (very soft/noodley) and the jj and akjj (tiny turn radius). The bentchetlers would work, as well as the on3ps. If you want a twin tip from on3p you should consider the caylors as they are still stiff enough and floaty enough to charge. Also, gear talk

Moment Bibby (exempting 1st gen which had a softer flex). They love fast open turns down the bowl, they love quick tight turns down steep trees, they love stomping big cliffs and their stiff tails bring you back forward when you land it a little back seat. Their overall stiff flex charges through the crud.

Ultimate tool I've found for skiing the mountain.

I've been rocking some 4frnt Renegades, awesome ski. Reverse camber so they float super easy, I can pivot on a dime down steep slopes and in the trees. They are super fuckin stiff so they charge hard as fuck and they don't weight very much at all. Also the reverse camber and stiffness lets you get rock back on your tail and ollie super high when just fuckin around.

I think you're looking at too broad a spectrum of skis, out of the skis you've mentioned only the C&D and the Automatic are really big mountain skis. I think of the magicJ or the Helbents as powder skis. When you say big mountain what do you actually mean by big mountain? What gradient of slope, what features are on the slope how and at what speed do you intend to ski it?

When I was in your situation I demo'ed extensively:

JJ, Sir Francis Bacon, Hellbent, K2 Seth, bentchetler and enjoyed the JJs most so that's what I bought.
