Colorado State University Skiing ?s

I'm a high school junior in Iowa and am looking at Colorado State. A student season pass is fairly cheap but with fort collins being 2 hours from summit county driving to the mountains once a week at least doesnt seem possible. Does anyone go there that can help me out because i really want to go but if i wont be able to ski enough i'll go somewhere else. thanks.

its really not too bad.  I actually kind of enjoy making a full day out of skiing getting up early..  the key is to figure out I70 traffic.  Also, you have a choice between 2 passes:
Epic - Abay, breck, key, and BC an vail if you want it
SuperPass: Winterpark, copper, 6 days steamboat (this pass is cheaper too)

There are also several clubs on campus that organize trips on a weekly basis during winter.  If you want to ski, you can ski, whether you decide to go to Boulder, Foco, Denver etc.. you just have to make it happen

Besides, CSU is awesome - good "college" atmosphere with a mellower vibe than boulder.  Also closer to more awesome remote mtn areas for camping, etc.

I got 35+ days last season at CSU. I was on the road by 630 and never hit traffic. Its a 30 minute longer drive than boulder, its not a big deal at all. The freeride club has a bus that goes up on the weekends that costs like $20 a trip. I'm not actually in the club but I got some friends that are and they like it.

Other than that, CSU is a great school in an awesome town. Fort Collins is constantly ranked one of the best towns to live in and downtown Fort Collins was just voted the best downtown in america. There's tons of hiking, mtn biking, fishing, and camping minutes away from campus. Fort Collins is also known as the napa valley of beer, it's pretty nice going to parties with kegs of odell's.

I've never skied winter park but if the price is close i think i'd do the epic pass just because breck and a basin were the shit.

yeah the campus and the town look sick and being in the mountains will be sick. The beer is definitely a plus too.

I went to CSU and was able to manage about 4 days of skiing a week. I stacked my courses Tuesday and Thursday and would stay all weekend. If there's a will, there's a way!

Fort Collins is a great town to live in and a great place to get an education.... but you have to work extra hard to get a lot of snow days in. If you are looking for a school more conducive to skiing, check out University of Utah, Northern Michigan University, Westminster College (Utah), Western State (near Crested Butte, CO), Denver University, University of Vermont, Reno University (Nevada), CU Denver, CU Boulder, or Regis University.

I am in grad school at Regis University right now, and driving one hour to the slopes instead of 2 is quite a treat.

It's all about what you're looking for. CSU was amazing... sweet people, cool classes, and fun night life. You're going to learn and have fun wherever you go. Good luck!
