I suck at park skiing and don't know how to progress

I've been skiing for 4 years but havent really gotten into a ton of park, more of an all mountain skier. I wish i was better at it but all i can do now is 180, 360, slide boxes and land switch, and "attempt" basic rails. Im confident on my skis everywhere on the mountain but once I get to the park I just lose confidence. I think one of the reasons is I dont want to make a fool of myself and try new things in the park while theres a ton of people, which is all the time. Also, none of my friends ski in the park so when I do, I'm the only once who knows anything out of my friends, or I'm in there by myself, so basically I'm teaching myself. Any help or suggestions on how to get confidence and progress this season would be greatly appreciated

Nothin to do other than ball up and not care what others think. Remember that what other people think of you is none of your business

when i started skiing park to avoid some of the embarrassment i would go ski it at like 5 or 6 at night when there were zero people and just got more confident from there.

I would just try and flow through the park, don't worry about progression as much it will come. Find a line you like with a jump or two and whatever box you can do and just cruise through it. Get your box down and try to be creative, maybe one run you just air over it and tap it. Practice makes perfect.

this. im not tech at all in the park, so i just try to be creative as possible, find trannys where other people wouldnt see them, butter everything, tap everything, get good at riding things switch and you'll natrally progress from there

Just try to improve in a realistic fashion. Don't be going for corks before you get 7's and flips. Just work hard and have fun with it. If people make fun of you then they are just losers. Honestly the greatest thing about skiing and newschoolers is that most of the people on here are just good people who want to help others get better and are stoked to see others land a trick they've been working on. I'm not that good at all my but the kids I sometimes ski with at my mountain are a little ahead of me because they live at the mountain, but they just want to ski, not make fun of kids who are worse.

Sounds like I'm a little lower skill level than you, and I've found music hella motivates me and also just hit shit. Best thing to have in the park is some balls. And just continue to hit stuff and as you get comfortable with it you'll naturally want to do more. Of course, don't go so damn hard you break something and are out for the season.

I'm only a bit ahead of you. My best tricks are 540's and blind 2's and 2's on. I actually just learned the blind 2, and it took me like 4 tries because I just couldnt comprehend how to pop and rotate off the rail. (suggestion, for 2's off i suggest rails because they are easier to get a grip when you dig your toe/heel). But I just kept at it after a bunch of times landing on my ass, then I got it by the end. Now I just need to work on not penciling my 3's and 5's, but I don't understand how to grab without throwing off my axis. Fuck it and huck it guess?

You know how when you see a guy fall from up in the chairlift but then you forget about it in like 11 seconds? It'll be like that for everyone else too so just forget about it and try what you want.

Ya i hate when people are dicks.. For instance I ski at Mt hood And I started my day off at Meadows and i was just getting my switch up down and people were helping me and i was super stoked then that night i went to ski bowl and people were complete dicks when i fell, I just learned not to care but most of the time people are supportive

Dont go slow. Everyone at my hill goes soooo sloe and bails even worse, mainly snowboarders cause there isnt many park skiers and if there is they are good. Get a moderate amount of speed and just HUCK IT, wind up really tight and throw your wait. How i learned 3's and 5's

Find like a 15 foot jump, get your 3 down while spreading your legs a little. Then once you have your 3 down just spread your legs and throw hard. After i landed my first 5 i was so pumped i was ready to try anything. And if you fall then just go back to your 3 and practice that

That phase was long and shitty for me, but now I'm moving on to tricks like switch 450 on and flatspins. Honestly, the best advice I can give is to just be confident.

I always find that being able to laugh at myself when I eat it makes progression easier. Just get back up and keep trying till you stomp what you're attempting.

Dude, I'm at the same progressoin place you are. Like the first guy said, we've all been there. My advice is put on some good riding music to get in a zone, and try bigger tricks on smaller features to get some confidence, then bring it to the bigger features.
Best of luck to you and your progression

If you don't end up with sore hips, you're not gonna progress.
