Does anybody know of any good footage of Wallisch skiing powder? My dad doesn't believe that he can actually ski powder, he thinks he's just a park rat. I need to prove him wrong. +K to helpful answers

i bet you he cant ski powder, atleast not like he can ski park, leave it up to him to pick a gnarly line get on top of a mountain and shred it he probably wouldnt be sick at all. (not saying he could never be good at those things)

back country boaters or tricks of big cliffs is another story though

back country booters dont count, its about scoping a line from the bottom, getting to the top, somehow finding that line again from the top and shredding it some mark abms or josh bobby pillow line type shit,

I don't understand the logical connection people seem to make all the time between skiers being good at park and horrible at powder. Anyone that skis anything for as many days a year as wallisch is going to be damn well comfortable on their skis in any conditions. Maybe he's not going to be the best at powder but he's a good enough skier that he can slay a line better than any noobs on ns. If anything the logical connection should be that if you're are as coordinated and comfortable as wallisch on skis, then skiing a semi technical pow line shouldnt be to hard for him. I guess people just want to make themselves feel better. "yeah i can't triple like him but I bet he can't ski pow like I can"

I would like to see tom wallisch on top of a technical pillow line. Its about alot more than a persons skiing ability. its about back country awareness, when you are standing on top of a technical line its a lot about instict of where to drop in, where to point your skis, the proper speed and wat to expect once u have committed and going through it all. stuff that comes from days and days in the back country and has nothing to do with how good you are in other fields of skiing

Pretty much.  Only that even in the BC, they can't just ski and need to spend all day building a booter hahaha...  Y'know, not that there's anything wrong with that, but jesus christ, send a cliff for fuck's sake.  Please! 

Also bitching about storm skiing is uber gay.  It wouldn't be a big deal if you wore clothes that were functuional, and lots of peeps think you're a homo when you complain about it snowing.   

Besides that, looked like a lot of fun and great conditions!

I am sure Wallisch can shred the big mountain just fine. Is he as good as Sage? No, but he's probably better than most people on NS.

Hahah holy shit whoever that kid was who said I am sure there are "1000's of kids on NS who could do real skiing better than wallisch..." are you seriously that disillusioned?

Are these guys capable of dropping some super technical line AK that sage would do? Of course fucking not, they are pros at different aspects of skiing for a reason. But trust me when I say almost any pro park skier is going to be comfortable enough and talented enough at skiing to shred powder respectfully.

Seriously can't believe we are having this conversation, unbelievable lol.

Wallisch doesn't tend to film in the backcountry, however I have full confidence he'd shred very hard.

Its not his job to ski pow. I was watching an edit (dont remember which one) and he said he would rather ski powder than park, but hes the best park skier in the world.

i never compared myself to tom wallisch, im just saying there are some skills that sick back country skiers develop that make them awesome. tom wallisch grew up a park skier in penselvania, drop him off in a heli on the top of a gnarly mountain and he would poop his pants. I wouldnt want tom wallisch saving me from an avalanche (and once again im not sayin i could or im better but there ae hundreds of people with more backcountry awarenss than tom wallisch pro or not)

You're completely underestimating his ability to just ski lol. You don't spend that much time on skis and not being able to hold your own in the snow. Like seriously "hundreds" of people? Come on man, you really have no idea what you're talking about.

how many of those people can afford to ski?
how many of those actually do ski?
how many of those ski more than 3 times a year?
how many of those actually go looking for huge pow lines?
how many of those are able to slay them on a professional level?

nevertheless, i'm positive there are a few hundred better at bc than him

tom wallisch could go to pretty much any mountain in NA or Europe and not be the best skier(in the drunk THall meaning) once. In fact at major resorts he wouldnt be in the top 30.

on the flip side, he could travel the world and never not be the best park skier at the hill.
