Anybody have any luck finding skis in pow with metal detectors? Gonna give it a shot this weekend and wondering if anybody has any tips/pointers... has look p18s it so I am hoping the detector will be able to hone in on that big chunk of metal... Guys at the rental shop were pretty pessimistic.
im pretty sure the recco devices arent exactly the most portable things. maybe if they made a beacon which could be switched to a different freq to find the skis it could work.
stop being so nice mac. my little brother lost an ipod at a 2 ft pow day at Schweitzer. we knew about where it was, but couldnt get back to the mountain until around 3 days later. we brought my dads decent metal detector and found it around 3 feet deep within 30 min. if we could find an ipod in deep pow, im sure you could find an fks which is larger and has more metal
Counter productive? So you are telling me spending $35 in rental fees, and a few hours on my day off vsersus spending $800-1,000 on a new pow set-up without looking is counter productive?
Right! Same thing goes for sex and skiing...why actually do it when you can just watch porn and go on NS. Also, Im pretty sure steeze-free lee posted earlier in the thread that he found a friends ski with a detector so I dont know why you're saying you've never heard of it working.
Actually it was the overwhelming positivity and multiple success stories compared to your negative attitude and pessimistic "opinions" in this thread that made my mind up. But thanks for you input!
Well I was face palming at how you think a picture of shit would be as funny as Old man Clemons stomping out shit. (FYI: you're old man Clemons)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iH1IyoLvNM
streamers are a huge pain in the ass and every time i'm standing around stuffing them up my pant legs i get called a kook by dudes who look like they spend way too much time on tgr.
still, i'd much rather look like a dork than lose another ski, and they do work well. these days i just carry a roll of $5 neon flagging tape in my back pack. if it's deep and i'm gonna be sending it i just rip off a few feet, tie it to my binding, and i'm good to go.
