Anyone watch this show? It's pretty weird seeing how they function as a mafia in an Amish community, pretty weird show

I randomly caught an episode of this show, and was incredibly confused. (The whisky didn't help.) At first I thought it was a mockumentary of sorts, or fictional to some degree.

But after reading about it online it seems like it's a real genuine thing. I guess the Amish have been rather distrustful of outside law enforcement and the mafia developed as a way to keep order and protect the community from within. However, apparently because of some their less-than-Amish activities/revenue sources, the Amish church itself denies its existence.

It was an interesting thing to watch with a buzz, but I don't see myself hunting down more episodes really. It all revolves around the pudgy ringleader and his over-eager assistants.

Storage wars however... would much rather watch that. Anytime Dave Hester gets hosed is a good day.

If those guys are actualy amish Id kill myself. The commercials Ive seen for it make me not want to watch it. Seems extremely fake, plus my dad is friends with a couple extremely chill amish families. Theyre pretty cool.

The show is fake 100%. Amish aren't even aloud to be on camera or they will be shunned out of their community. Show could possibly be based off somewhat true stories, but there is not a chance that anyone on the show is actually Amish

Anyways, on the show they used a news clip from one of the local news and i thought there was some breaking news happening at first, I was confused for a second.

There cover is that they were never baptized by the amish church so they can do whatever the fuck they want, which I find hard to believe.

I think they just film some random Amish from far away, blur out their faces, and then do some acting.

Damn. I was kind of hoping it was real, if just for the sake of humor and irony.

But I had a nagging feeling that my whisky infused research was, well, sub-par.

But in many ways it does just seem like it's way over the top.

Storage wars is real though. :)

People actually take this seriously? Never watched it but jesus, come on.

TV is fucking lame these days. At least some people watch it for entertainment value. If you take shit like this seriously, there's no hope for you.

My uncle works with one of the guys. It's about 40% real. Discovery gave the one guy a Cadillac to drive for a year. He said he thinks the only one that is actually full Amish is the one with the tattoos.
