when i was 16, ie, in 2006, i sent an email to one of the guys who make the faq's on gamefaqs. asking his opinion on my lineup.

i was obsessed.

Never lost with this team. I'll post movesets later if you want...

Slaking and Swampert are both pseudolegendaries that absolutely wreck people. Salamence has one of the highest attacks in teh game and with a focus band its up around 600 which will result in many 1 shot ko's. Hes also fast so he will most likely get first move and his only weakness is ice.

Dont use leftovers on snorlax if you're planning on keeping him in battle for long. Use a chesto berry instead so you get a full revive and instant wake up.

I played red all last year in my christianity class on my computer. My team was pretty weak but i had venasaur so powerful he was able to win every battle for me. i also had some decent ones on my team like pigeoto, snorlax, nidoran, or something like that i dont really remember

want some advice from the pokenerds out there.

currently trying to make the optimal vaporeon. EV training to max HP and something else, the other is undecided but maybe Defense based on this possible moveset;

consider this:

Surf

Toxic

Roar

Rest

should be able to toxishuffle for a while and own them with a huge HP and Defense stat, + rest . maybe just make him hold leftovers or something? or is there a better recovery move to replace rest?

maybe replace rest with acid armor and then give him leftovers.

Man, back in my day i played them pogeymanz super hardcore, I made a dope team and spent hundreds of hours EV training and IV breeding the pogeymanz. I remember i had a salemence with nearly perfect IV's and EV trained like a pro, but thats about it.

You could substitute Roar/Rest with Wish/Protect. Use Wish 1st turn then Protect the next turn to guarantee a heal without taking damage.

But the Roar/Toxic combo is great for faster pokemon but Vaporeon tends to be sort of slow so you might get bursted down before you can poison too many of the opponents pokemon. Lots of people in Ruby/Sapphire run a Salamence first and you can absolutely wreck him if you substitute Toxic for Ice Beam.

Either way the 252HP/228Def/28SpDef is a pretty standard EV for Vaporeon and gives some nice beefiness.

Usually Acid Armor tends to be more of a baton pass team move but it could still work here.

This moveset will work great and you could also do a couple other movesets taht would work very well too depending on what you want with Vaporeon. She's a very good pokemon and can fill many roles on a team. I'd personally stay away from Roar though because of her slower speed than other pokemon. (Suicune is the optimal Roar Toxic pokemon since her speed is crazy high.)

Yup. My whole team was IV and EV trained to perfection. I had the Nature's and everything perfected. I also had some clutch combos with Hidden Power. (Arguably the best move in the game if you know how to use it/make it be the type you want)

With Choice Band my sweeper Salamence had like 592 attack or something like that. He just facerolled enemies.

I guess I could have left my pidgeot with whirlwind and add toxic? Although she doesn't have the same hp that vaporeon would.
Thanks for the advice though, I'm always impressed by true Pokemon trainers. This is actually my first time ever playing so strategically and first time EV training because I'm playing PokeMMO and want to actually compete with online ppl

impossible. you couldn't beat the elite 4 with lvl 71 Blastoise so you couldn't possibly get waterfall. I'm assuming a gen 3 game.

I actually haven't picked up a pokemon game in 3 years so that would probably explain the inconsistencies lol

I never managed to beat the elite 4, the one time I made it through Victory Road I lost the save file or something trying to give myself all 3 starters with my sisters game.
