Today in women's slope finals, Emilia Wint threw down a sick run that would have taken 1st. The only problem is that the NBC camera man missed a jump so the judges couldn't see what happened. So her stomped run got thrown out and she got a re run once the weather got bad which led to her casing the 4th jump and destroying her knee.
I remember reading somewhere about "technical difficulties allowing for a rerun," but I don't know where, what he is saying is true. It is NBC's responsibility though, as they are the one's recording the event, not just airing it (I'm pretty sure?).
They simply weren't airing it. There are ALWAYS cameras rolling at events like that. I mean, where else do you expect all of these recap videos to come from, a toaster?
and they are fucking with the live streams, was able to watch pipe semis fine but every other event its just said "an error has occurred" AND when I go onto the highlights page i can only watch snowboarding highlights any sking ones dont work
Wow, that is really something they need to follow up on. I didn't like the way Dew Tour and NBC broadcasted this event, all the fuck ups online were ridicilous. The fact that an athlete is miissjudged, then have to ski in worse conditions and getting hurt is just really unfortunate, but if this all adds up then Dew Tour and NBC really fucked up in my opinion.
So the reason she tore her ACL was because they made her re-do her run because of their fuck up? That's fucked. How does it feel to ruin someones season Dew Tour?
Fuck the entire Dew Tour this year.. Judging was shit.. They let the slope comp go on in absolutely abysmal weather leading to injury and a huge huge damper on athletes runs.. They effectively blew someones knee and on top of that we couldnt even watch because their live stream was shit...
That's fucked that she had to redo her run because they messed up the filming. That's the full extent of it though. It sucks that Emilia injured herself, but that's no ones fault. The weather was completely out of Dew Tour's control and the schedule was set in stone (tv spots, employees, etc.). Every athlete has the option not to drop in. Blaming injuries on the Dew Tour is absolute bullshit, especially since the course was safely set up for the most part.
On a positive note, go look up kayas Instagram. There, the winner, said what needed to be said. Support her. Support skiing. Hit up all of dewtour/NBC/sponsors and say hey, today shouldn't have been compition day.
I wasnt blaming her injury on the dew tour. I was saying that she would have won if they filmed her whole run. Also, she never would have taken the third run in the terrible weather if they wouldn't have screwed up. So you cant blame it on anyone, but it wouldnt have happened if she never took the redo run
Holy shit, that's just so shitty. Goddamn NBC, this just in: FUCK YOU.
To be fair, though, there was no way she wasn't dropping in, regardless of weather. I can only imagine the level of determination/drive/competitiveness that takes over the athletes on competition days.
For the live stream of 1st run men's pipe semifinals, they totally botched it and did not switch the camera from the top of the pipe until the tenth athlete ran.
Not to mention all the other filming problems over the course of the weekend.
But vibes out to Emilia, first Brooke and now her, scary stuff.
Holy shit that is seriously fucking dumb that something like this could have even happened. Everyone should like that Facebook link above. It has another link to a dew tour article where the dew tour said that she fell on her first run.... and not even mentioning about ANY fuck ups they had on their behalf and anything about her having to do a redo run.
EVERYONE needs to give this a + and get this shit on the homepage. I can't even imagine how pissed I would be if this happened to me.
and the announcers were retarded too, he said phil casabon did a manual haha and said 1420 once, theyre just stupid. the camera work was horrible all around
Completely agree. i generally like watching comps as some tricks are so stylish but today sucked. only like 2 of the guys actually did a full run. they were all not even doing the last jump. the weather decided the winers, not the skiing
