Well something VERY wierd has happend to my knee.
I had and ACL reconstruction nearly 2 months ago and have been working on the recovery on my knee dillagently. Ive been keenly watching the level of swelling and have been pleased with how its reducing.
I have neither twisted, sprained, over flexed, hyper extended, knocked or otherwise hurt my knee in any way.
But this afternoon it started to swell, i went as usual to the gym and did my cycling and excercises. and it got bigger.
Its now massive and the skin in taught with the amount of swelling.
Im in no pain what so ever.
Why is it doing this? can the newly grafted ligament undo itself??? would that cause the sudden swelling??
If anyone knows anyting i would really like to know. Its 12.43 and im going to my docs straight away 2 morrow but thats not gonna help me sleep tonight.
Cheers
Rich

do you normally have fluid retention in your lower body?

I know my mom tore her ACL and there were times over the next couple months where it would just swell up becuase of the workout she was doing, and she was doing cycling etc. on a daily basis. However I don't think it ever got to hte magnitude that your talking about so you probably should go to the doctor. One thing it could be is that if you have a screw in there it can be rubbing wrong and that cuases swelling.

I had my ACL reconstructed DEC of 2003, and as far as i know it's HIGHLY UNLIKELY that the graft has undone it self, so no need to worry about that, especially after 2 months. but you made had irritated it exercising. The first time i skied after surgery (alomst 8 months) it swelled like a baloon, it just does. but now almost 2 seaons later no swelling, so most likely irritation from exercising

I would say so too...I dunno what to do though. Aren't there things you can eat to get rid of water in your body?

Cheers guys.
Yeah it probably was the excercising. Going to docs today to sort it out.
And Tanka, Wait till you damage a body part that could affect the REST of your life!!!
You WILL be concerned when it just suddenly swells up!

I think tanaka did damage a part of his body that swelled up ... but it probably won't ever affect him ... that's why he's so bitter

Well I'm no doctor, but it sounds like you may need to be retrofitted with a colostomy bag.
