First freestyle setup

Sounds like a really banger setup to me! As far as the boots go, head down to your local shop and try on as many different boots as you can in a few different sizes. It does not matter whether the boot is a 'park oriented' boot or an 'all mountain' oriented boot. At the end of the day, a boot that fits well, and has a good hold on your foot, is the boot for you. Any park specific features like rubber shock absorbers and so forth are more or less icing on the cake. Fit > Features, just keep that in mind at the shop and don't let features or boot styling skew that final decision when buying boots. And if a really good fitting boot is slightly outside of your budget, spend the money anyways, it will be totally worth it. Footbeds are also a good investment if money isn't an issue aswell.

Before you go buying some new boots, what kind of shape, and how well do your current boots fit. No need to fix something if it isn't broken, right?

Sounds like a pretty nice setup. "Freestyle" boots aren't worth it if you are just starting out. Especially if your current boots fit well and are in good shape.

I don't really have any boots at the moment...

try to get some boots that are a couple years old instead of used boots cuz used boots can be a hassle and new boots are too much $$$ most of the time, especially for a beginner. Try something like a salomon boot that is on a big sale or a race boot for a good price cuz a lot of good skiers who dont care what they look like get those lange 130 flex boots cuz they are insanely responsive and they are just a more quality boot. they might have to put a shock absorbing foot board in them or something but that is a lot easier and cheaper than buying a boot that might not be as good just because it is "made" for freestyle

Is the ski size appropriate for my height/weight?

yes, as long as you can ski a bigger ski and you know what discipline you want to use these skis for.

I would actually say they are the perfect size for him. If he wasn't a beginner I would even have him size up. But those will be great!

for a beginner, yes

as you get better, you might want something longer to provide more stability off large jumps, but for now its fine

That length for him is pretty ideal. I have the same length and I'm nearly the same specs, just 15 pounds heavier and with Halo's. That sounds like a great deal.

for him, yes. for a more advanced rider, thats probably not long enough. i'm 5'9 and ride 179's, which are perfect imo

Just bought them 2 hours ago. The skis are pretty much brand new.

Go to a boot fitter and try to put on as many boots as possible. You will want between 80 and 100 flex for your first boot.

What about the new dalbello voodoo 2013? I'm gonna go try them tomorrow.
