Alright so i'm gonna cut down some k2 composite poles I picked up at a ski swap. I put the grips in boiling water for a few minutes and tried to pull them off and put them in a door and pulled. they still wouldn't budge. What other ways will make grips come off? I heard if you blow them with a blow dryer on hot it'll make it easier. Any other ways I should try?
No i've done this before on other poles. I know the technique but with past experiences of helping friends and what not I've always had a hard time with taking the grips off of composite poles. Besides putting them in hot water what other methods could I use to take them off. And no there is no screw, that was the first thing I checked.
Can someone please help me? Btw they're k2 composite poles. I put them in hot water for 3-4 minutes and they wouldn't budge. I used the blow dryer idea and they still wouldn't budge. What can I use/do to get them off?
When I used to work at a bike shop we would use an air compressor to get grips off. Give it a shot. The boiling water method has worked with great success each time I cut poles down.
None of you clowns are reading the OP. They are composite poles, he tried heating them with boiling water which in every case should deteriorate the glue. He also tried the door.
Sorry OP that is a shitty situation. I would recommend a vice and some glue solvent
I had composite poles and the hot water thing worked fine for me when I swapped the grips. And I actually just made them shorter like two hours ago. Cut with a fine toothed hacksaw, it worked for me.
