remember, when this amendment was written, everybody had a single shot, 6 foot long rifle that took a minute to reload.

that amendment would never be re-written today with the guns we have now.

it's a stupid law, and nobody should have guns but soldiers and officers of the law.

end of story.

I've got a vtac rail on my ar I built. Very nice rail. Do u run regular rifle stance? Or more oftthe thumb-over/Costa stance?

american revolution. a ragtag group of rebels defeated one of the most powerful militaries in the world.
putting america on the other side of it, vietnam war. viet cong used guerilla tactics to prolong the war and make the american people tired of fighting. they effectively won by attrition.

it's been over 320 years since the country started. i think its safe to assume the whole democracy thing is working and we aren't about to collapse into a monarchy.

you really think that, if the army whose government spends more on it than the next 14 highest countries in the world combined turned on u.s. citizens, we'd stand any chance at all?

There were 8775 gun related murders in 2010 in the USA. Compared to 10228 deaths caused by impaired drivers. 211 children under the age of 14 were killed in 2010 by impaired drivers.

whats more preventable?

i had never thought about it. so many people counter gun bans with the whole cars kills more people bit. I think thats stupid.

But i would support for a ban on alcohol. Or at least stricter laws. Like only drinking in your house. No more bars

Those were foreign wars. The British had other problems to worry about, so they were not entirely focused on defeating the colonists. The lack of public support for the Vietnam war greatly impeded US military efforts, not to mention that we had other financial concerns. The Civil War is a much better example. Some people revolted against the government, and they got fucked over. The discrepancy in weapons technology between the British and the colonists and between the VC and America was much less than the discrepancy between the US military and US citizens. Citizens would not stand a chance against tanks, jets, submarines etc.

I'm running a regular rifle stance. I just prefer it more. And I plan on building an ar in the future. One of my favorite platforms.

Fuck you op, gun rights are this nations back bone. The second amendment is a god given right that shouldn't even be questioned wether it is necessary or relevant to American citizens. Before the holocaust Hitler restricted citizens right to own guns the restrictions got more and more severe. Eventually he took guns away completely and millions of people were slaughtered. If you don't think citizens should own guns get out of this fucking country, or don't try to force your opinion on others, who feel strongly about owning firearms and haveing freedoms. In response to the Sandy Hook issue. That psycho asshole could just have easily, actually more easily taken a car or truck and ran over more then 30 kids and teachers. Doing it with guns was probably frivolous. Do we ban cars because they kill people, I don't think so. End of fucking rant, fuck you gun haters.

If you think the holocaust or Hitlers control of Germany had anything to do with restricted gun control you clearly don't have a clear understanding of the events and circumstances surrounding Hitlers rise to power. Learn some history before playing the Nazi card.

The constitution isnt going to change.

There is no way to hand over the 300 million guns that are floating around the US.

Im canadian and know most regular people in the US (ie not mentaly handicap, and not criminals) are pretty responsible with their firearms. (Daivd Lesh maybe not lol)

If the Gov isnt going to change the constitution and take the 300 000 000 guns off the streets in the US, I think they should offer a "free" or "almost free" gun case program. The US government can provide all their gun bearing citizens with traning and lock boxes for there guns. I feel this is the least they could do.

If Lanza's mother had her guns locked up, i dont think this socially awkward mentally challenged kid could have gone out on the street and acquired his own guns...

Why would you need to make booze if it legal to consume in your house?

if anyone preaches gun control because they care about saving lives they should also preach alcohol control.

gun rights are this nations backbone? i thought life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness were. the second amendment is a god given right? where in the bible does it say all american's have the right to own a gun? did you...compare the american government to nazi germany's? i hope you see why that is, at best, one of the worst, least relevant comparisons ever made. aren't you, by telling people that they should leave the country if they don't like guns, forcing your opinion on others? cars aren't designed to kill people, guns are. somebody doesn't get hurt every time you drive a car, every time you shoot someone with a gun, you are going to hurt them. i hope you can see the difference.

Gun rights are a PART of our nations "backbone" as with all our rights. as for the comparison to nazi germany, yeah, i agree that its kinda silly, but there is a good point behind it. Hitler used gun control along with many other methods to control the people and take power away. He obviously had a much different motive than whatever obama wants to pull. but the point is that its a very effective way of taking power away from the people, and putting that power in the hands of the government, and its just one more way for our government to control us more. the balance of power and control is already shifted far too heavily in the governments power.

changing laws that will take power away from citizens, without making a dent in gun crime, is a bit ridiculous.

as for the "cars arent designed to kill people" argument, what does it matter? one kills far more people than the other. anyway my guns arent meant to kill people, how many gun owners do you actually think buy their gun thinking "hey im gonna use this to kill someone"?

you can't say stricter gun laws won't put a dent in gun crime until stricter gun laws are in place and gun crime levels stay the same.

what was bad about it? but you don't get in a car thinking "okay, i'm going to go out and try to hit someone and hurt them" you think "okay, this is where i need to go." cars are made for transportation. guns, for the most part, are made to shoot people. like you said, most people don't shoot their guns at others that often, and accidents do happen, which is why most gun related injuries/deaths occur inside the household of the person who owns the gun. but, shooting someone with a gun isn't misusing it, hitting someone with a car is. guns, when handled properly or improperly, are dangerous. cars aren't dangerous when handled properly.

my grandfather worked for ge defense as an engineer, the vulcan was his baby, and greatest accomplishment of his career. when he passed away i took claim on everything he had including quite a bit of weapons he designed. the cannon definitely doesn't fire anymore, not even sure if it ever did, but i do have it in my storage unit. it's a sentimental antique, more than it is a gun(cannon).

Im sorry if im judging you, but it really seems like you havent been around guns, gun people, or know much about them.

you dont go out to the shooting range, thinking, hey im gonna kill people today. i dont know where you are getting these ideas.. 64 million gun owners dont do that. for those 64 million people, its a target/hunting/self defense tool, not a murder tool. just like cars are a tool for transportation. guns are made to shoot a projectile through the air, for whatever purpose that may be, in hunting, its to kill animals, target shooting, to hit targets. in war THEN its to kill people. when you own a gun for hunting and target shooting shooting someone would be the definition of misuse, any fucking hunters safety class, concealed carry class etc.. will tell you the same thing, using your weapon as a murder tool IS misuse, as much so as using a car to kill someone.

and no guns are not dangerous when handled properly, again, where the fuck are you getting this idea? my guns have never been posed any danger to others because i use them properly.

right but for people who buy them for self-defense their purpose is to shoot others. if you shoot someone with a gun, you can't say it is being handled improperly, that's what the gun is designed to do, whether or not you bought it with that intention. if you shot someone with one of your guns you wouldn't be using it improperly. no one would say "wow i can't believe he used a gun to shoot someone, that's not what guns are for." maybe we just have different definitions of what it means to handle something properly

certain guns are designed purely for hunting, some for trap and skeet, some for target, i own "assult" style scary looking rifles because I like feel and look of them. but i use them for the same exact purpose as people who use hunting and target rifles.
so no, not all guns are designed to kill people. knives originate from a weapon, thats like saying all knives are meant to kill people. or a hunting/tactical knife used for camping or cutting up food is a dangerous human killer. i say it completely depends on what they are used for.

and people dont buy their self defense weapons TO shoot others, their intent is not to have to use it to kill someone. its a worst case means of self defense, in that case then its used to shoot someone yes, to legally and completely justifiably shoot someone when your life is in danger.

yeah if need be, which in that case is perfectly acceptable, its a fantastic means for self defense, some people have a bat for the same reason, some people carry a knife. i dont see whats wront with using any kind of weapon to defend your life when you're being attacked by a criminal.

just because some people own a gun for self protection doesnt mean that using a hunting rifle for murder is proper use. thats where i completely fail to follow your logic.
