remember, when this amendment was written, everybody had a single shot, 6 foot long rifle that took a minute to reload.

that amendment would never be re-written today with the guns we have now.

it's a stupid law, and nobody should have guns but soldiers and officers of the law.

end of story.

Okay all the right to bear arms was given to us way back in the day because the founding fathers didn't want us to have to rely on the government to protect us. Why would I have to rely on some cops when I could be able to carry concealed when I want. Going along with all the other ideas of the constitution, defending my own self by myself is my right, it's part of my liberty as an American, not just some desire.
We're empowered to be free, meaning we dont need to depend on some body of corrupt politicians.

i agree with this. although some would call the 2nd amendment archaic and a relic of a past time, it represents a freedom that we have to defend ourselves; not just from an intruder or a bear on the Western Frontier, but also from our government. the right to bear arms is a statement that says that no matter what the government does, we have the power to defend ourselves. its somewhat a balance of power thing that the government knows they can't do anything the people don't approve of or else there will be riots; and we have the arms to do so. in an ideal world, we could live in peace with everyone around us, but this isn't an ideal world so we as a populace should have the right to defend ourselves if the moment ever arises that we have to.

when did i or anyone else say our opinions "mattter?" whatever that means. and if you truly believed your opinion didn't matter you would never have said anything. the very fact that you are posting at all is more than proof that you think your opinion matters. maybe you just don't know what "self-righteous" means?

also, you say that we should be focusing on mental health instead of gun laws, and then go around calling people "fucking retards?" the reason mental health is such a taboo subject in this country is because people throw words like "retard" around without thinking for two seconds what they're really saying.

It's just a pompous assumption at such a dark time and everyone is doing it right now.  It's why I got so annoyed and posted. 

 Zimmerman, are you really that dense that you believe this wasn't discussed ad nauseum in those cases too?  If that's honestly what you think, I urge you to look back and see for yourself that it did- every assdouche in the world had their say then too.  As you can see, it accomplished jack shit, which brings me to my next term:  Jacktivist:  Someone who will yap their fucking trap all day and all night about what they think should happen, but never do jack shit to change anything.

i dont think i have the answer. i dont think anyone thinks they have the answer. its a multi-faceted problem, one which goes way beyond just guns, as you said. i think stricter gun laws may help, but are by no means going to solve everything. again, you clearly think your opinion matters too. you clearly think you are better than the rest of us. you clearly are the one being self-righteous.

where does the black market get the weapons, mr. genius? dont you think you could control gun producers in most western countries? dont you think you can protect from criminals smuggling weapons into the US? maybe if you stop spending trillions on being the world police, you could do all of that.

first off, calm down, man. really no need to get so upset. second off all, please don't use the word "retarded." third, did i say i wanted to ban all guns?

yes, it would help in a situation when someone tries to attack the school, but what about the other 99.999999% of the time? it just seems to me that having guns in classrooms will create an awful learning environment and that the costs would outweigh the benefits by a lot. armed security guards though might be a good idea. i could get behind something like that, but teachers? no way.

Stats don't lie. The vast majority of gun deaths are accidental, and they greatly outnumber school shooting deaths. Therefore, if you think it would be a good idea to have more guns, and let teachers have them, you sir are the idiot.

That's a 6 ft long, 6 barreled gatling gun that capable of 6,000 rpm of 20mm cannon ammo.
These are mounted on aircraft, or used in the navy's Phalanx Anti-Missle System. If you didn't know.

Note rpm stands for rounds per minute

I know a whole bunch of teachers, and not a single one wants to carry a weapon. For one thing, half of them wouldn't trust each other with them. Not to mention the last thing we need is to have teachers who are relatively unprepared entering a shootout.

The police train to clear buildings, and they train for it at least once a year, but usually more. And most departments train so that they can enter the building with a minimal number of officers so they can get to action faster.


not to mention that if all teachers are armed, and they hear a gunshot, they're probably going to investigate. That adds more people into the mix, and leaves the kids abandoned.


the security officer thing is a good idea though.

Although I do believe that increased gun regulations would bring down the number of gun related crimes in the US; a gun ban would not stop things like the Connecticut shooting from happening. If someone is crazy enough to walk into a school and massacre 18 first graders then i'm sure that they will go to any and all lengths to acquire a firearm no matter how strict the laws may be, we must understand that these people feel like they have nothing to lose. The people who commit these massacres plan things out meticulously and appear to obsess over their plans in the same way that a crack head obsesses over crack. Its not like these people wake up one day and say, "I feel like killing a bunch of innocent people," and then go and buy a gun at the local sporting goods store. If we want to stop events like this then we need to look at it as a mental health issue and not a gun issue.

Uhhhhhhhh you know he stole the guns from his mother, right? As of right now there is no evidence to suggest that the shooting was premeditated. If his mom didn't have legal guns, this specific event would not have taken place.

Prove to me that it wasn't premeditated. If his mom didn't have legal guns he could have taken the time to acquire one illegally via an unregulated black market dealer, just because you make something illegal doesn't make it disappear.

This, also if you look at every other recent mass shooting in the US you can see that just about all of them were premeditated, some examples are Columbine, Aurora, and the recent mall shooting in oregon.

Once again I do agree that we need stricter laws, but those laws will not stop events like these from happening. The lunatics that commit these mass murders are willing to go to any and all lengths to get a firearm we need to be addressing this as a mental health issue not a gun issue. Stricter gun laws will stop the average murder from happening but not mass killings like these.

in the wake of the governor of Colorado published stance on guns I stocked up. bought 1 M&P 15 VTAC II, and a DPMS AP 4 carbine. To add to my gun collection as well as high cap mags and ammo. Because I love to shoot and the DPMS was a gift. And my collection will only continue to grow. Armed citizens keeps the government honest. Second amendment right should not change it is an infringement on our liberties. That is all. 'MERICA.

the second amendment represents the RIGHT to defend ourselves against our own GOVERNMENT should the need arise. it doesnt have anything to do with whether or not an ar15 should be legal to a public market. while they probably shouldn't be, anyone who wants a complete ban on guns is just opening themselves to oppression by a government who will be much better equipped.
