remember, when this amendment was written, everybody had a single shot, 6 foot long rifle that took a minute to reload.

that amendment would never be re-written today with the guns we have now.

it's a stupid law, and nobody should have guns but soldiers and officers of the law.

end of story.

In 1988, Kellermann published a study comparing robberies, burglaries, assaults, and homicides in Seattle, Washington and Vancouver, British Columbia, a city "similar to Seattle in many ways" that had "adopted a more restrictive approach to the regulation of handguns." The study found that
both cities had similar rates of burglary and robbery
in Seattle, the total rate of assaults with any weapon was modestly higher than that in Vancouver
rates of homicide by means other than guns were not substantially different in the two study communities
the rate of assaults involving firearms was seven times higher in Seattle than in Vancouver
the rate of being murdered by a handgun was 4.8 times higher in Seattle than in Vancouver.
The study concluded that restricting access to handguns may reduce the rate of homicide in a community by reducing the lethality of assaults.

uhhhmmm how? im alone at home, i see a bunch of guys come through the back of my house i get gun i shoot the ground with my glock in my SAFE in my room they run. i call cops, give them descriptions, never found them, simple as that.

It's ridiculous. The loudest people against guns don't even fucking live here. I can't ever expect someone who grew up in another country to be able to understand how guns are fundamentally rooted in our existence. Although I disagree with your side in this, I understand and respect your own reasoning. I do think you're showing your own stupid side by stating that its simply 'shit that never happens'. You'd be surprised how often it does actually. I'm not saying it has to follow the cliche "parents asleep with small children tucked in" scenario, but recent and past events prove that anything can happen to anyone at anytime, and we shouldn't forget that. If someone wants to do another person harm, they will, guns or not. Guns are not a cause of conflict, they are a means of handling it, meaning that the bad guy will find a way even if it proves a bit harder without a gun, and the last thing you want to do is let the psychopaths get creative. It would be nice if other, innocent people had a chance against those people..

If we take away cars we can save 17,000+ lives that die in DUI accidents a year and we can also cut down on these crazy shooters way of transportation. Like the guy in Oregon, I think he drove a car to the mall. If he didnt have a car, he might not have went.
