I've live in Idaho my entire life and for the first time last night encountered mormon missionaries at my door. live near BSU campus.. I obliged them for a bit, offered them a beer, and accepted when they offered me the book of mormon. Anyone else have sightings lately?
Ehh... as an ex mormon after being apart of the religion for 18 years, its just nice to be nice to them. They still are human, i don't agree with the religion at all and think its terrible but if i ever see missionaries I make my intentions clear that i'm athesist and that I don't believe and I just talk to them like normal humans and not about religion. It can get sucky ou t there for sure from what I hear from some of my friends.
It's a pretty fascinating set of beliefs they hold, and the dedication they have to give up two years when they are prime youth is very respectable. I thought considered having a conversation with them but I ended up being straight forward and politely saying I don't give two shits about your path to salvation, but I plan on reading some of the book of mormon for historical perspective and gain an understanding of what they're all about
Hit me up, I was a devote mormon left when I was 18 years old right before my mission because I couldn't stand the garbage and just doesn't make any sense. Their whole religion is based off feelings and nothing concrete. It just doesn't hold water when presented to the reality of the situation.
they ride by mine on their bicycles in their suits and dorky bike helmets. they haven't stopped though, at least as far as I can remember. I live on the bench like 2 blocks from a decently sized church
