Shaun White falls in Dew Tour halfpipe run; still breaks 90 points
mentioned it in that other thread...i just stoppped watching, but now after a 10 min break i'm back up watching... i don't understand...but he get's 100 with a hand drag..so 90 is ok for an assdrag :P
to get an 80 he could probably slide the whole pipe on his stomach like a penguin, Seriously judges what goes on do you just pick a score before he drops
Not saying I agree with the score, but I believe the rationale is the fact that Shaun's run was about as technical as most finals runs, and he goes f-king huge on every hit, compare his first hit to anyone else in the competitions and its an enormous difference.
god I remember when he won xgames on some bullshit judges. Even the announcers were like "If he wins this one I think it might be because he is SHAUN WHITE"
For sure. He went absolutely fucking huge, and just about everything in the run was perfect, aside from that split-second that the ass of his tight pants was sliding down the halfpipe wall.
How can you give anyone a score of 100? Does that mean you can't possibly put down a better run? His was perfect, no improvement or harder tricks will ever exist? Competitions are bull shit and full of fanboy judges.
No you don't understand judging. If that was how it worked we would be giving out 10s because there will always be bigger better harder runs. They have him a hundred because (in their minds) their wasn't anything to deduct him on. If his hand didn't drag it would be a 100 score
It means that at that moment in time, no better run existed, that's like saying "oh, fuck tj Schiller an bobby brown because they got scores of 50 in big air" because people will be doing fucking triples in two years! a perfect score means its perfect FOR THAT EVENT! (Not saying shaun whites was perfect, he had that slight hand drag) Based on you logic the judges would somehow have to know what people will be doing years in the future in order to judge what's happening now, so what may be a perfect score right now is a perfect score, for RIGHT NOW. Btw, not groping Shaun whites balls here, he didn't deserve that score, I'm just laughing at your logic.
No. If judging worked that way, technical you could just throw easy tricks you have dialed. They can't deduct because you didn't actually make a mistake. The 100 is called a perfect score. A perfect score is hypothetical because you can't actually be perfect.
Part of their scoring rubric is difficulty. So you can't throw easy tricks and get a 100. You can actually be perfect for the moment you take your run. As the guy before me Said
I still stand by my saying that you can't have a perfect run. It isn't perfect for that time, it's just the BEST for that time. There's a difference. It's like the First dubs would've been. Not perfect, a bit sloppy, but there weren't any harder tricks. That's what made them the best. The fact that you think it's possible to do anything perfect blows me away. There is always a tiny bit of error that makes it imperfect, or a way to make it look a bit better or add some style.
I'm not saying judging is simple, but some things are just retarded.
Shaun white could ride down the middle of the pipe and get a great score. Then you have fmx the one year when travis threw the double back. Threw it as perfect as you could have. Never been done, nobody else trying it, nobody was sure if it was possible. Also seriously as clean as you could ever do, no room for improvement and a 98.6?
WTF is that shit. I know judging isn't easy but that's just being stupid. No twist from side to side, a level spin, and both wheels hit the ground at the same time = perfect rotation.
yeah i completely agree, the judging never seems to be consistant, i just find that judging sports, are unfair and pretty much just a popularity contest. I dont care if you stomp the cleanest run possible, if you fall - you should not be pulling off a 90 score.
Nobody's arguing that he doesn't have talent. (If They are they're retarded)
He hasn't really had it for a while in the slopestyle, pipe is his only game at this point. And it's almost more than preferential treatment. He basically just gets bonus points on every run no matter what. Idk, that's fucked. The fact that it keeps happening is ridiculous. It's been going on for years.
And he's a douche.
I don't see how these contests haven't reevaluated their judging. I mean fuck they pay him just to show up, then they give him the gold. Fucking lovely.
