Using locks tends to be a pain in the ass, the wire ones can be cut, and not a lot of places have those special lock racks.


Fortunately for me if anyone saw the bases of my skis they wouldn't want to steal them.

I realized this skiing in Vermont the other weekend. Almost every place in Quebec and Ontario I've been to has one of those lock racks. They really should be the standard. No hassle no stress.

Agreed. It is a hassle, but to be honest I'd rather take the 5 seconds to lock my skis to something than risk them getting stolen, as has happened to me in the past.

Sure, the cables can be cut, but skis are almost always left around loads of people, and someone isn't exact gonna be trying to cut a cable infront of everyone.

Yeah this happens every year at spirit. Spirit is easy access for all the sketchy little fucks who steal shit that live in Duluth. You can ride public transit there. I just put my skis back on my ski rack and lock it if we stop for a while, since stopping usually means we're driving to McDonalds anyways.

Do ski mountains have security cameras, pardon my dumb, but wouldn't it just make sense to put some cameras around the place. Even if you cant get a clear shot of them you could follow the fuckers back to their cars and get a plate number. For what they charge for a lift tickets, a couple of cameras couldn't make too big of a dent.

Spirit Mountain, there hill in the article has some. Doesn't do you much good unless you know where they are and you put your skis by them though.

ive had skis jacked before and it sucks. sometime id like to put a super nice pair of sks in a very easy place for thieves to jack and set up a lil ambush ;) sure id prolly be waiting there for days possibly haha but id be worth it to knock the fuckers teeth out once my ambush plan comes together.. haha what im i saying , i need sleep
