Virgin Mobile

I'm with them in Canada. Reception is the same as everyone else here since they use Bell towers.

They're not that much cheaper here from any other brands (there are 3 main companies that own 95% of market here and they set the market price and make it reaaaaallly expensive, Virgin and practically all these 'discount' brands in Canada are all owned by one of the 3 main companies so the prices are still shit).

Customer service is alright as for as a phone company goes, but they are disorganized as fuck sometimes. I've had a few service problems as a result. The worst being when I cancelled my plan when I was leaving the country for a couple months, turns out they never actually cancelled it so I came back and they tried charging me for it. A couple hours with customer service and I got the charges taken off. Then a month later out of nowhere my phone service was cut off. I got in contact with them and they said they were terminating my service like I asked them too.. only 4 months too late. That was pretty shitty. Otherwise no problems.

They run on Sprint's network in the US.

Didn't know that, but it explains their shitty service.

Up north, Virgin Mobile is just a subsidiary of Bell.

And, yeah, like someone was saying the "Big 3" certainly have a great deal of control over the cell phone market, but the CRTC does shit to allow foreign competition. Another example of worthless Gov't bureaucracy. Less is certainly more.

under the right leadership an organization like the CRTC is a powerful and useful tool to have. And without them there wouldn't be companies like Wind and Mobilicity that actually offer good and competitive service.

Virgin is the best! When I was calling them to set my phone up they are the nicest people ever, best customer service I've ever had. Also really good deals on plans compared to other companies. Reception obviously depends on where you live, but everything I have experienced with them has been super good!

Most of the pay-go or non-contract carriers are all either subsidiaries of the Big 3/4 or contracted users of the big 3/4 physical networks. It would take a LOT of capital to build a nationwide network to compete with them.

I've been paying like 55$ a month for 2 years on Tmobile's no-contract system, and I just lost my shitty 4 year old, shattered screen First generation android phone today. My mom and brother have been on virgin's system and have no complaints so I had to check it out.

so yeah, I guess you get what you pay for there...

My coverage from them isn't great but its mad cheap and they have great commercials.

i had a soccer coach once that was nicknamed virgin mobile.

i have an android phone with virgin mobile- no problems with customer service so far and i've broken my phone twice so I've dealt with them quite a bit. I originally got the plan a few years ago so I'm still paying $25 a month for UNLIMITED talk, text and data. its fucking great
