Hola bros,

I'm looking into a set of park specific skis. I already have all mountain twins that can handle some pow (i don't have a need for a powder specific ski at the mome…need to move out west first) and groomers, and now it's time to step up my park game.

A little background:

-I'm 6'3", 220 lbs (not fat haha)
-Intermediate to advanced skiier (getting back into skiing, i've been on a snowboarding hiatus for about 6 years)
-I will be using this ski for park, and mellow days on the hill, cruising around, having fun, playful style.


I'm looking for a nice park ski that's not super stiff, but also not extremely soft. I want to be able to press around and to jib and stuff, but it should be able to hold up to carves and some mellower jumps (no crazy 80ft shit).

Here is what I've looked at so far:

-Atomic Punx (heard mixed reviews…claims about playful yet responsive)
-K2 Domains (skeptical…except they have some beefy ass edges which is nice)
-Moment Vice's
-On3P Filthy Rich
-Too bad One Time's are too short :(


Anyways I am OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS. Enlighten me with your experience, knowledge, and advice.

Look into the ar7's ? Im around the same height and weight as you and ar7 is a stiff ski which is nice when your 200 plus lbs. Out of your list though id rock the punx.

ok i'll look into it.

I'm also looking for comments on durability…how the ski held up to rails and jibs, topsheets, etc

Armada makes a pretty bomber ski. I have had my thalls (softer version of the ar7) for four years and the still are going.

+K to both of you guys….right now i have to say i"m leaning towards the ON3P FR's…mostly because of this video. This is exactly the type of style and situation that the ski will be used for.

if you arent that good please please please!! dont get FRs or JMOs, it pains me to see kids who arent super good riding the best skis on the market. maybe instead look at the Line TC ski

i mean i'm no kutcher, but i can handle my own. Not really much of a kid either except at heart haha. I've been skiing since I was three, and am at home in the park. I guess what i should of said is that I'm intermediate in the park but progressing, but I'm an advanced skier. My park game just needs some tuning because of the long time spent on a snowboard in the park.

But thanks for the opinion i guess…more looking for a gear review

Pretty different skis but out of those I would go with FR's or punx, I've skied both and have loved them both, punx may be a bit soft for your size though

Ya that's what i'm thinking too.

For size I'm leaning towards a 186 (but they're sold out like everywhere)…do you think i could swing a 181 alright? I mean my all mountain twins are 177, but they are super stiff

You should be fine they are so light and at your size you should have no trouble tossing bigger spins with a 181

I am 6'8" 220 and I can tell you that you dont want anything rockered (even a park rocker). They ski so short unless you get 185+ you want to avoid them in my opinion.

I never see people reccomend head twins on this website, i have a pair of head gp84s (dumonts ski, i got a pair before he signed with head /claim?) they are pretty light. They are decently buttery. The top sheets seem to chip a little bit but thats normal (not as bad as a cap wall ski or salomon suspects) they take a decent beating and heads warranty program is super generous. My first pair of heads, the JO pro 2011 model the edge popped out at the tail so they sent me the gp84 in a longer size because o had grown, then with those skis i shattered the wood underfoot causing the top sheet to lift and i had an edge crack (caught my ski on the kink of a flat down when i was first learning em) They sent me a new pair same model but longer again. Usually companies dont warranty things that happen while on rails. I havent had any problems with the ones im on now (fingers crossed). I would highly suggest their skis

Man fuck all the haters. If you're gonna go ahead and spend $300+ on a pair of skis, why not get the best ones? I hate when kids say shit like "dont get these skis, you arent good enough". LOL thats like 8th grade shit for real. Get the filthy riches man they are widely considered to be one of the best all around park skis out there and ill tell you, on3p definitely doesn't design their skis to break haha. My brother has one of the first pairs of JMOs they ever made from back in 2009 and they still look great and ride even better. You seriously can't go wrong with the FRs, just make sure you get them long enough.

I'm slightly taller than you and i ride 182cm skis with slight early rise tip and tail. With your weight, I'd go for the 186cm FRs

I'd go with the new punx the beefed up the edges this year. They are my favorite park ski. Hands down

punx are fun, they chatter like a bitch under speed and at 130lbs on 173s they feel too soft, I can butter the shit out of them so if that is what you are looking for then by all means do it. I would advise against them for anything outside the park, although they are fun when you don't feel like blasting through everything. Maybe look at the volkl wall instead as it is more or less the same but a bit stiffer. At your weight and size though you really don't need to be looking at soft skis as I imagine you could easily be able to butter any pair of skis. Hell I can butter most and you are 100 lbs heavier than I am. Just something to think about when looking.

I picked up the AR7, last years model....spent only a couple days on snow with them so far but, I like them a lot. That would be my vote. Playful yet, stiff enough to get out hard backseat landings..

They might be a little stiffer than what you have on the list. But, they are a good ski and a lot of fun.

This is probably the dumbest thing I've ever read. Honestly , what's wrong with supporting the company that makes "the best skis on the market." It's just like seeing people in top of the line outerwear and saying they don't deserve to wear it because they're not "super good." The fuck does that even mean?

I worked my ass off this past summer to be able to be able to afford great skis (jmos) and save for college, and I haven't skied in five years. People like me and op might not need high quality gear, but if we want we have every fucking right to support ON3P.

Domain: stiff underfoot, buttery tip and tails and no camber = best rail ski I've ever had. They won't carve turns but in the park they shine, and the rocker actually handles pretty well in powder compared to other pure park skis to. Spinning jumps is easy to with the symmetrical sidecut and you can shuffle landings really easily since they'res so little camber to catch on. Favorite ski so far for pure park.

Listen up, FR is not the best ski by any means. I am going to get a lot of shit for saying this but I have tried them and they were nothing special. Honestly I would look into the Head shred sticks because they are the most durable skis I have ever seen. I am on a Freestyle Team and every single person rides head skis (over 40 pairs of Head skis being ridden on my team) The older kids on the team are still rocking the old JO pros from 2010 and they are still holding strong. The skill level is from people who can double and will soon be competing with the pros to beginners just having fun with them. All you need to do is choose the right one. NOT ONE PERSON HAS HAD A PAIR OF HEAD SKIS BREAK ON THEM FOR WITH MY 3 YEARS OF KNOWLEDGE ON THE TEAM. This is very surprising considering my friend delammed 3 Nordica AOS skis halfway through the year and decided it was time to get a different ski so he switched to Head skis and they are his current skis for everything. On3p may be liked, but they by no means have the best skis out there. just my 2 cents.

Lol look at my post, I shattered the wood underfoot causing the entire top sheet (not just the lamination) to rise. However they did get warrantied so it was all good

I have this years armada ar7s, and they're the shit. They've been holding up really well. Flex is good too

i guess i'll definitely be looking at the Ar7' for the praise they have recieved.

My first choice is still the FR's, followed by probably the punx or Ar7's at a close second.

I've only ever heard good things about Volkl Walls. Extremely durable and since they're on the stiffer side, for a bigger guy they would probably feel just about right for flex.

I would go for the FRs personally. Volk walls are also pretty sick. The only reason i dont have the Filthy Rich is because I have some line anthems.

Why does it bother you? If you can, go for it. But it's NOT ok to have pro skiers outfits like T Wall or T Hall or Simon Dumont. If you can't ski like them, don't dress like them. Just their jacket or just skis or pants or goggles or helmet is fine. But not the whole outfit.

Let people wear whatever the hell they wanna wear. As long as they aren't getting in peoples way and ruining the physical park then I don't give a shit what you wear. You're supporting the freestyle ski industry. I'd prefer someone to be rocking a full decked out Saga suit than someone rocking a pair of $5 snowpants from Goodwill. It means more $$$ into the support which they put back into the support which offers me not only better products but more choices.

Wear whatever you wanna wear and ride whatever you wanna ride.
