I switched to Tele full time this year. With the new NTN bindings, you have way stiffer bindings with way less lateral motion. Makes tele/park way more doable.
Rented tele gear yesterday and went skiing today. Shit is awesome. Couldn't understand shit at first but then on the way back up I watch some videos on youtube on my phone and BAM I could do it.. almost.. haha! It's hard having control on these skis but once you get it. It's fun!
I hate when kids use teles then tighten the bindings all the way. Then they don't actually know how to tele ski they just hit park with them to look cooler.
I eventually want to try it, especially in the park cuz it looks fun. But I don't want to be one of those kids that just tightens their bindings so they are on Telly's but don't actually Telly turn. There are a couple I have seen at my mountain and even mammoth
why would you need a touring mode with Targa's? they're a light-duty enough binding to not need one and they are heavy-duty enough at the same time to aggressively rip whatever is thrown at you. and you can bust out your old leather boots and use them with the Targa's too.
My main problem with all these recent tele bindings is they're much too heavy duty. kinda looses the whole feel a bit.
Because its easier to tour with a touring mode..? I skied targas for a season and a half and didn't have anything bad to say about them but nothing really good either. They're just your basic tele bindings
only one of the guys in the vids posted actually skis telemark skis like you should. You're supposed to drop the knee, not turn like you're on normal bindings.
the targa assent has a decent free pivot mode. been using them for a couple years but agree they aren't amazing but are light, simple and work just fine, especially a lighter style boot.
Not much more than the "dropping the knee" part, actually. The whole point in having the free heel is to be able to do turns with the knee dropped. I realize people can do whatever they want, but why not use the equipment the way it is made to be used? Its like owning a manual car, but only driving around in 2nd gear...
