How long do you have to live in state to recieve state fees for university/ college or is that possible for a canadian even?

Im pretty sure most places give you residency between 1-2 years.

Looked into this in VT, it's hard as fuck. I would have to claim complete financial responsibility, hold a job in the state for at least a year while paying income tax to VT. Have a somewhat permanent residency, so living in the dorm won't count but off campus does. There is more to it, but I can't claim financial responsibility because my mom is helping me pay some of my expenses while in college. Generally they make it hard for a college student to claim in state residency to avoid having them pay for in state intuition.

If you are a Quebec resident and go to school in Quebec tuition is around $1500 incredibly cheap.

They werent protesting to lower the costs only so that the cost wouldnt be raised.

Right now the average is $2,519 when fees for all disciplines are averaged in Quebec. That still seems like so little to me because I pay around $35,000 a year, but I can completely understand how that can seam like a lot when you are used to paying way less than that

AFIAK (dont care to check now) that includes ALL post secondary education fees in quebec including cegep or trade programs, cegep has a yearly "tuition" of like 300 bunks. so that brings the average number down a bunch. id guess actual university tuition is around 3500-4500 which yeah is still super cheap. its just annoying when people throw around a number as low as 1500.

besides it does suck that you pay 35000 a year, i feel bad for my american friends who do but thats your/their problem not the problem of quebecers or canadians. not saying you said that but the quebec topic is irrelevant to a thread called "US university"

i go to school in this province, many of my friends are from Quebec. Tuition is far cheaper than 3500 - 4500
