working for a financial planning company right now I can tell you I know what a budget is..... but certain industries benefit from generating income at certain times of the year. For insistance, the company I work for has relatively low earnings in the summer, so there is not a lot of funding for new capital investment. As a ski resort, I could see how they would want to generate alot of money at the start of the year to show good earnings for q3 to investors, after slow periods in the summer. Yes its speculation, but It could be the case.

and my point about park building is that yes, they are weather dependent, Of course... but im saying they are known for having big park features for xmas, and they benefit huge from that. Im saying the event is a way to make sure that brecks large features are on track for xmas, or that they are gonna build big jumps really early anyway for xmas, so why not hold dew early?

But fiscal years don't have to correspond with the calender year. I think the reason why it's held in mid Decemeber is because it's easiest to attract ad revenue during mid-decemebr because people are thinking snow whether it's planning vacations or buying equipment and there the mountain can also physically hold the event.

Vail's fiscal year ends July 31st which is basically what you'd expect. Either the year to end just after the end of the ski season or just before the beginning of the next one.

Having an early season event is the best way to guarantee you get a good park built. Upper management will do whatever it takes to make it happen when its a big event. No event and they will concentrate on other things first and makes lots of excuses. Pretty much any mountain with snowmaking could make a sick park to start the season but they chose to use the snowmaking on other terrain. Its all about priorities.

Looks like they had something similar to that rail to tank feature a couple of years ago.
This video says that it is on the course but I do not want to do that much research into finding that out. Anyone know?

After seeing the course being hit by snowboarders today, I cant wait for ski slopestyle. I think people are gonna absolutely pop off. Theres a lot of prize money at stake, a super deep pool of riders. I think the freeski slope roster is way deeper and more technical then snowboarding , and hopefully people start hitting the creative features. The big drop rail hasnt been hit, and 90% of people hit the dfd and waterfall.

i wouldn't get your hopes up, its a contest. Even though theyre the best, they'll still be less consisant on the bigger, riskier rail features. Although, guys like tom will definitely be doing some good tricks and I really wanna see the huge Cbox and the huge drop rail hit. That drop rail is begging for a blind 990 out.

Russ said the big drop rail made it feel like his knees were going to explode, I doubt you'll see anyone hit that unless they push up a landing for it. I've heard Goepper has something ridiculous on the top of the wallride.

Seeing the course in person definitely makes it that much more gnarly. I'm excited to see what these guys come up with.

thats so lame, the landing did look flat. who knowns, someone like tom who is used to landing flat could probably handle it to sw for sure. We shall see.

They can't get much worse than the snowboarders on rails though. The best rail tricks I saw in semis were nose presses and blind 2's. The skiers should put that to shame.

Tyler Flanagan had some dope disaster 3s on the dfd. That was the best rail trick of the day yesterday. Skiers will kill the rails way harder tho, and I think skiers are more creative and will start mixing up the features more.
