hey guys, title says it all. I'm looking at the team 14s but am starting to have doubts because they don't have a driver toe. I'm 6'4", 170 lbs. If anyone could provide some information on the pros and cons of the bindings id really appreciate it.

I have the 2012 FFG 14 team bindings and the Salomon STH Driver 14 bindings. Steel > Plastic, especially if you're a bigger guy.

are you saying that the team 14s are plastic?

yeah, sorry. Didn't finish my post. I got sidetracked. STH is steel, therefore it is more durable.

False. STH 14 = FFG 14, just different colors. Same goes for the 16.

the 2012/13 FFG 14 Team is the same exact binding as the STH 14 Driver.
this was not the case for the 2011/12 FFG 14, as it had the Oversize Z toe.

IMO....skip the non-driver z toe every time. The driver toe is proven bomber for years and years. If you have doubts, follow your instincts and get what you want. You ll be happier in the end.

Although the z-toe isn't as durable, there is a good chance the ffgs will still get the job done for you. My brother is only a little smaller than you and drove them hard all of last season with no signs of wear.
Whether its worth it for you depends on how hard you tend to ski and how much cheaper they are than something with more metal/a driver toe.

does that mean the ffg 12 are the same (or very similar) construction to the STH 12?

No.
FFG 12 is a Z series binding (toe & heel)
FFG 14 uses the Driver Toe (standard post) with STH heel
FFG 16 uses the Driver Toe (metal post) with STH heel

I wondered the difference in the driver. So it's same design but metal parts instead of plastic? Schweet.
