Allergies

The past few months I've been dealing with continuous hives and facial swelling that is pretty severe. I have an epi pen now. Don't know what i am alergic to, docs haven't figured it out yet. It's scary knowing I could be eating something that could possibly kill me. Anyways let's hear some crazy alergy stories and stuff. Also any experiences using an epi pen. I'm scared shitless to use mine.

when I was younger and my pollen/dust allergies were bad I once rubbed my eyes so much that they swelled shut. They were super crusty and sore for like 3 days. Allergies blow

2 years ago the exact same thing was happening to me! my hands would swell up to 3 times their size and id get hives everywhere. I went to the doctor and they couldn't figure out what it was. My mom thought it might be from stress but I was never "felt" stressed but maybe it was some kind of sub conscious thing. don't know! but eventually it went away.

I've gotten tested for the most common foods..I'm thinking it's a preservative or some bullshit

Stab your food with an Epipen several times before you eat it. Should solve your problem.

Im also allergic to the pesticides they use on a lot of fruits. Mainly strawberries. When I like eat one it makes my throat super dry and its feels like I have sore throat. Then it gets hard to breathe. I still eat strawberries anyway.

i was the exact same! and while i'm not allergic to them, i get really bad reactions to hornet and wasp stings. once i was stung on my thumb by the cuticle and it swelled all the way up to my elbow and i couldn't use my hand it was so swollen. another time i was stung on the lip and my whole lower jaw got pretty swollen. it's really weird and i have to take some kind of steroid pills for it when it happens.

In EMT recert class my instructor, a flight nurse, was showing us an epi pen, thinking it was a trainer (the kind with no needle or medicine inside) he started playing around with it, turned out it was a real one and he shot himself with the epi. The next day he did quite literally the exact same thing. Felt like deja vu.

If you feel your throat swelling up and you start having difficulty breathing is when you're supposed to use the epi pen and call 911. Better safe than sorry.

Apparently the needles on those aren't nearly as large/crazy as the ones in the Mark I kits we carried on the ambulance.

it could be a mold/mildew allergie, i get those in the winter, or a dust mite allergies. i got the allergie test and got like 40 needles put in my back and they still never found what i was allergic to, and then i just goggled winter allergies and did some self testing i guess and them i got tested for mold/mildew allergies (which was affirmative), so just think about when you started getting them

When I was a kid I almost died when my dad and grandad were eating peanuts. I was even in the other room and my throat still swelled up so I couldn´t breath. That sucked

well besides being allergic to cats, horses and pollen I am allergic to my phone.
For the past two years I've been getting these weird eczema on specific parts of my hands and fingers, that after a while turn into open wounds. It looks awful, and you notice how grossed out people you dont know look when they see it.
Turns out I have nickel allergy, and my phone is apparently full of it.
I'm so stupid for not figuring out why I get these wounds earlier, because they are at the exact spots of your hands and fingers where your hands are when holding the phone.

Cats.
Dogs.
Horses.
Most farm animals.
Any small mammals with fur.
Any animals with feathers.
Fresh cut grass.
Dust/pollon/chalk dust.
Leaves that fall off the tree and are on the ground.

Can't eat lamb, I did once and almost died.
Can't eat lobster or shrimp.
King crab.
Trout.
I'm allergic to milk, not lactose intolerant, i'm allergic to the fucking white drink.
There's more i'm too lazy.

I win, my medicine cabinet looks like a pharmacy.

Me too, developed after wearing them all day in EMS, had to switch to nitrile. Have to use poly condoms too, which blow (pun intended) and don't have quite the elasticity of latex.

Go to an Allergist and get all the allergy pokey things in your back to see what you react to the worst.

I have tried to but you need to be off Zyrtec for 2 weeks before the tests. Everytime I try to go off of it I am a mess a few days later. Gonna wait till after finals

We really over-prescribe antibiotics which is starting to have devastating effects. Some of the superbugs that have evolved MRS, VRE, C-DIFF, etc are scary.

Im very allergic to grass. If i get a wiff of fresh cut grass, both of my nostrils will be swollen shut for a good 2 hours and constantly running and my eyes get super itchy and red. And then the sneezing starts and its just misery. Only way to get it to stop is to take a shower. Never have found a remedy for allergies. Beneryll, allegra D, claritin, nothing has worked for me ever.

Ironically, I mowed lawns at East Bay during all 4 years of High School so i put myself through this torture every day because I made pretty good money doing it.
