Ok, so my poles ar getting a little to short for me, but they have some bad ass grips on them and I love them. So instead of dropping like a 100$ on a new set, I am deciding to make my own and mix up.
So my question is, has any one here ever made a their own set and how? I really want to use wood and drill my old grips onto them. So NS, lemme hear your ideas.

The only poles you should steal are rentals. Poles don't need to be flashy, they just have to have functionality, AKA be able to be driven into the snow and be used to push around.

i spiral electric tape all up my poles since i just use these old short ones that get the job done. if someone stole mine id find them and hurt them cus thats lame

I'd go for bamboo, if you can get your hands on some quality bamboo I'm sure it would be pretty good pole material.  As for the point, well maybe just get reall ghetto on the situation and duck tape a screw?

they're the only poles ill use. what I do which works quite well for me is A) find an old set of poles, cut them to desired length. B) using a thick shoe/skate lace make a strap that is the right length and opening size etc. C) feed the leash end of the strap down into the inside of the pole, then tape up a comfortable grip with hockey tape. (on one set I actually put a small marble on the top of the pole to round it off making it easier to tape, whatever works for you).

remove grips from current poles.....place in vice and pull, or stick through crack in a door and pull. find rental poles cut to length and put old grips on. profit?

i took grips off of shitty poles and put them on a pair of poles i liked

i found 2 girps and 2 poles i liked around my house and lost and founds and if you heat up the grip a little it and then use a door to pull it off (figure it out) you can put the grip on another pole if its to small you can cut the pole so it fits aslong as it doesnt make it to short to use and if its to big u gotta figure somthing out but it worked for me

DUDE FUCK YOU IVE NEVER STOLEN A PAIR OF POLES I INVESTED IN A NICE PAIR THAT IVE HAD FOR A WHILE. What your doing is immoral. Its wrong, and its hurting other people. You should feel horrible. Nobody steals poles besides you. Plus saying everybody does it as an argument is the fallacy of popular appeal. Booom ethics class. I usually just ask the hill to borrow some children's poles for park. Then I never return them. Bought some bamboo ones to five bucks too.

i had some old poles that were extras from when i had broken the other one, and cut them down to the size i wanted. I painted them, and on one of them used some gorilla glue and duct tape to get the basket to stay. Then i cut down some old corks from wine bottles, and shoved those into the ends of the poles. For grips i used some old MTB grips, then to attach the straps I screwed through the strap and into the cork to hold them in place. So far they have worked great.
